I believe my original suggestion was to slave the fighters together so one pilot could fly all 6 out, but I'm not entirely sure we still count as having a pilot available. Co-opted astromech(s) would be able to do it, though...

What kind of ship is being used for the pilot test?

I didn't realize we would be using sims. Is it too late to enlist Gial to help her cheat the tests?

Sure if you want to, but there is a chance someone will find out about the tampering afterwards, especially if you destroy the tests (which you are almost guaranteed to do as youíre level 8, well above the average tie fighter pilot.[/spoiler]

We're level 7 right now. And Shyar is barely trained, meaning she's performing marginally better than pure non-heroics 4 levels below her. That's why she wants the edge. She'll take a dive if she somehow manages to start annihilating the course. What's considered "high" scores?

And what ship is being used for the pilot checks?

Two fighters and one interceptor, fire control is the interceptor, the others are a standard tie fighter.

What feat/talent are you switching to?

You guys will level to 8 after this mission one way or the other, think about what youíre going to take.

Two successes on each test is good. The rest what Iím going to do is have a few generic tie pilots go through the same exercises and compare your results to theirs. If youíre top in all three categories, that would definitely qualify as Ďdestroyibgí the test. Iím doing it this way because I donít want it to be too mechanical where you can simply stop after x progress.

Ok, Iím not sure how you guys want to do this, as Shyar will now get to go on flight missions and Gial is left on board the vigilant. Combat missions will theoretically take a lot longer to compete on pbp than pretty much anything Gial would want to do. I guess I could switch to narrative mode for the fighter missions, and give options for Shyar to take that have real outcomes, but I also like the idea of running a space combat mission or two. Unless we want to just handwave all that and go straight to however you want to hijack the a-wings.

    What do you all think?

Well, I'll be restricted to posting through my mobile for two weeks, so the less I have to type the better, and after that I should be quite busy until the end of September. Nothing that would completely prevent me from posting for an exceedingly long period of time, but if you want to take this chance to completely focus on Shyar and run that couple combat missions, I don't mind in the least.

I figured you'd be using some sort of narrative system for any space fights just to keep things going. But if HS doesn't mind, I don't.

Do the A-wing pilots still wear the TIE flight suits? And if so, do any of them have roughly the same height/build as Shyar and Gial?

No. The a-wings have a life support system, as do the assault gunboats and tie advanced.

I still like the idea of re-programming the flight computers to kill the pilots and jump to hyperspace.

It doesn't give us an out, though. I assume there's supply lighters arriving and leaving. How guarded are they, and how many people are usually on them?

It'd also be nice if we could figure out a way to fake our deaths so we don't become suspect #1, but I don't have one.

EDIT: How close is the ship passing to habitable planets? We could organize some kind of system glitch that open the arirlocks and randomly ejects some escape pods, spacing a portion of the ship. If we secret ourselves in one of the pods beforehand, we can crash on the nearest planet, torch the pod, and either call up the Syndicate or figure out our own way back home.

Supply freighters arrive often enough for it to not be an issue, sometimes one a few days, sometimes several in a day. They usually have a starfighter or corvette escort, but not always.

The onboard security is almost nil, the flight crew, maybe a small security force of a few people, or a few security Droids.

The vigilant is often near planets, jumping from one hot spot to the next. There are several major colonies and dozens of minor ones in the muiridon / Kalatar conflict, and not enough GT ships to go around. There are deep space missions as well, attempting to intercept smugglers and gun runners.

So, there are two main goals here.

Primary goal is to steal the a-wings. You could do this a number of ways, from reprogramming adtromech droids to reprogramming the a-wings themselves (though you will still need an astromech to jump them). If you donít want to use astromechs, you could possibly fake an order and have them loaded on a freighter or in a container and take that.

Secondary goal is to cover your tracks so the GT doesnt know it was you, or somehow discourage pursuit by making them think youíre dead or the a-wings are destroyed. If you fail this goal, youíre gonna have to get fake IDs and possibly reconstructive surgery or walk around with masks all the time. Or contain your activities to areas of the galaxy outside GT control.

Hmm. If they rely on the fighters' life support, the "kill the pilots" strategy becomes quite viable, and we could potentially manage to get all the a-wings. Rig the system to stop life support and open the cockpit, and they'll be dead very quickly.

Or, possibly, program the astromechs to do so, and just disable manual override, though I don't know if the behavioural inhibitors would pose some kind of problem.

I assume the pilots still wear space suits with limited life support in case they have to eject. Even if they didn't, CO2 buildup takes way too long to kill for me to be comfortable that someone won't figure out way to undo it. You use the inertial compensator to do the deed. Specifically, disable, then execute a sustained 10g or so maneuver. GLOC will knock the pilot out in seconds, especially if they're not ready for it. I believe it takes 20 minutes of oxygen deprivation before you become a vegetable, so that's how long you'll have to hold it to make sure the pilots don't wrest control back. You'll probably get structural damage, but if they don't like it, they can steal their own A-wings.

I suppose you could eject the pilots, but then you're chancing they will be found and rescued.

EDIT: I don't know how many Gs it takes to snap a neck or pulp organs or something like that, but a single high-intensity even may produce less damage than sustained Gs. Gial should broach the topic of structural stress the next time he talks to Loaspun.

Sorry for the delay, so is this what you guys are going to aim for, spacing the pilots or turning off the dampeners and pulping them, then getting the astromechs to jump to hyperspace?

Not saying itís possible, but if weíre good, Iíll make some rolls on your exploration of this route.

A-wings don't have astromech ports. Unless these prototypes differ from the classic model in ways not even hinted at.

Yes, they have astromechs. Upon further investigation you would find that you have relatively easy access to the astromechs droids, so reprogramming them to take the ships out themselves becomes a viable option as long as you can get them out of the hangar and into hyperspace.

Do you want to go on a space combat mission while we wait for hyperbolic? Would give us something to do and can add a bit of flavor to this time of the game.

Did White ask Shyar to attack a ship that just blew up? Sure looks like it.
ďnice shot alpha 6,Ē White said as she blew a wing off one of the drones, causing it to spin out of control before exploding in a ball of fire,
Unless the bolded it is supposed to mean the wing and not the fighter, which was not my first reading of the sentence.

TIE Advanced are still armed with blasters, not lasers, and only two of them.

It's a bit late, but I'd like to designate one of the YTs as my prime target, on the off chance I ever get to fire at one.
