Let’s Build A World
I’ve been reading the Toxic Seas thread and since it has been a while since something of its ilk has shown up I decided to make an attempt at it.
Note: If this seems similar to the Toxic Seas thread that’s because it is. I’m following the precedent set by Xuc Xav ( The OP of Toxic Seas)
Rules:
1) Keep it on point. I’ll let each poster use their own judgement to determine what the length of their post should be.
2) Don’t try to undo or detract from other posters. Add to ideas, don’t subtract from them.
3) Have fun.
Here’s the Toxic Seas thread for anyone interested.

I’ll get the ball rolling.
0) The world is warm on the poles and cold on the equator. This has caused a ring of ice that spans miles across to form around the world’s equator that effectively makes contact between the two halves of the world difficult if not impossible.
1) A small rocky satellite orbits the planet at about 20,000 feet above sea level, traveling at 30 mph. It makes a full orbit once every 11 months. It’s gravity is strong enough to keep someone from falling off up to about 10,000 feet from its surface. This satellite does not rotate.Last edited by Wampyr; 2018-03-09 at 06:12 AM.

Re: Let’s Build A World
2) The cause of the polar warm zones is the intense magical flux which creates a field not unlike a planetary magnetosphere. This results in a Positive Energy Pole in the North and a Negative Energy Pole in the South, with lines of magical potential between them called Ley Lines.
3) The energy which powers magic it tapped from these Ley Lines, and spell power is determined both by how effectively a spellcaster can channel and store magical energy, (spell preparation,) and by proximity to a Ley Line. The Poles are zones of intense magical flux where cantrips assume the power of epic spells and unprotected creatures are affected and altered by the magic. It is exceptionally hazardous to attempt spellcasting near a polar fountain.
4) The sun is very distant, so it provides no heat and dim twilight about twice as bright as the moon.

Re: Let’s Build A World
5)The face of the moon possesses a deep pock mark, causing the satellite to look like a giant eye in the sky. This mark is a supernaturally deep shaft that stretches farther into the moon than the moon is actually wide. Despite the moon only being 500 miles in diameter the shaft is a 1000 mile deep cavern. As you decend into the shaft air begins to fill it. At first it is unnoticiable, then like frigid high mountain air, and eventually unbearably thick, hot, and humid. The habitable parts of the shaft are obscured by a thick cloud layer.

6) Most heat is caused by two separate arcane organizations, each one tapping into energy near the poles. These orginazations use their powers to extort whatever they want from the people they provide heat too, and both of them are locked into a constant struggle with each other.

7) Full moons are considered a bad omen in part because a lycanthropic organization works through infiltration and subterfuge to position itself for a reign of terror over whatever region is unlucky enough to be under the full moon during those few weeks they have to spread their infectious influence.
