Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
William's eyebrows crease and his expression pulls towards a frown. There's nothing to chance, he wants to argue. It's really quite simple, not difficult at all! Just stay out of the way and let him open the door repeatedly. Sure, it'll take time, but- and that's when Donnal speaks up, and William's expression evens out a little bit. <"Indeed,"> he sighs, before taking his place in the rear once more, to follow the others.

Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
The group retreats all the way back across the crypt to the dead beetle's room, then take the stairs. The narrow corridor doesn't lead to a new level, but instead heads down as quickly as it went up into a new room. You emerge on a raised part of chamber with a door to the north, with stairs on either side to reach the lowered half, which also has a door to the south. Standing opposite the northern door is a tall wooden statue of Kassen grasping a gigantic wooden shield in each hand. One of the shields is inscribed with the word “home,” while the other reads “family.”
Spoiler: DC 15 Knowledge (arcana)The statue is a construct - a wood golem. It's currently inactive, though.Last edited by theasl; 2018-06-10 at 02:58 AM.

Donnal looks at the statue, admiring the craftsmanship. "'Home' 'n' 'Family' ur worthy o' defense. Fitting that thay shuid be engraved oan his shields."
Looking back at the others, he shrugs. "Dae we be gaun doon, then?"

Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
William looks up at the giant statue, taking in its qualities for a moment before he tunes into the conversation the others are having. "It isn't a statue," he murmurs, unobtrusive enough that the others can ignore him, if they want to.

Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
William rolls his shoulders a bit when they reach the arrow room. "Okay. Stand away from the door, everyone. We don't want to get shot again," he says, moving to place his back against the wall right beside the door. Once everyone is out of harms way, he whispers the cantrip to open the door. And again, and again, until they aren't being shot at anymore.

Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
William opens the door, but it slams itself shut repeatedly without anything flying in. Looking in, you see the ground littered with projectiles, and none left in the central column. There is a door directly facing you to the east, and another one to the south. Where to next?

Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
The southern door opens to a large room, with four pillars in the middle, two statues of Kassen on the far wall, and a fair amount of blood on the ground. A continuous carving of mourners runs along the walls, leading to a staircase on the south side of the room. As you take a step in, you begin to hear a familiar rattle, and four bloody human skeletons emerge from behind the pillars, ready to strike.
Spoiler: dc15 knowledge (religion)bloody skeletons have fast healing 1, dr/5 bludgeoning, the normal undead resistances, channel resistance 4, and the supernatural deathless trait: "A bloody skeleton is destroyed when reduced to 0 hit points, but it returns to unlife 1 hour later at 1 hit point, allowing its fast healing to thereafter resume healing it. Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
Yeshana
Leveling her spear at the undead attackers, Yeshana's brain kicked into overdrive, and she called out to her companions.
"These are no ordinary skeletons! They can slowly heal themselves, are resistant to divine energy, and will reform an hour after destroyed unless destroyed in the presence of the Bless spell, or sprinkled with holy water!"
She then deployed an extract from her wrist sheath, downing it in a single gulp.
"I'll have to hope I can hit hard enough to overcome their natural resistance to things that aren't bludgeoning... otherwise we're screwed..."
Spoiler: ActionsI can't see the map right now, so Yeshana is just going to drink an extract of Shield, increasing her AC to 19.Everything dissolves into blue.

Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
Even though he's in the rear of the group, William's close enough to do some damage - and even though he can't see well, he doesn't have to worry about this particular spell harming his allies - the cantrip only affects the unliving. He quickly makes the sign and mutters to himself, casting Disrupt Undead on the closest of the skeletons.

Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
Donnal grunts as the skeleton's slash lands home. He tries to step back, but is unable to put any space between himself and the vile abominations, so he crouches behind his shield and tries to pray for healing. The undead are too close, and he is unable to grasp the magic, instead watching it slip from his grasp.

Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
William's spell slams squarely into the lead skeleton's skull, and with a shudder, it falls down lifeless at Donnal's feet. Unfortunately, the rest of the group isn't as successful, as Donnal's cure fizzles and the rest of the attacks miss. One of the skeletons in the back moves up to take the place of the destroyed one, while the last stays put, looking for an opening. The first skeleton strikes out at both Donnal and Ulmarr, while the second one focuses its efforts on the druid, but their luck isn't as good this time.

Re: [IC] Crypt of the Everflame
William's second try isn't nearly as effective, though Ulmarr manages to connect with the skeleton as well. The combined blows aren't enough to take it out of the fight, though, and Yeshana is once again off the mark. Donnal's wave of positive energy then spreads through the fight, giving the group a needed boost of vigor. The two skeletons press their assault, with the damaged one landing a blow on Ulmarr, while the last one inexplicably continues to stay back.
Spoiler: oocSkeleton 1 takes 3 damage but heals 1. I'm not sure if mindless undead are supposed to be able to hold back in reserve like that but this one is particularly stupid, I guess.Spoiler: attacksskeleton 1 claw attack vs Donnal (1d20+2)[17] (-4 due to cover)
