what do you mean a "noiseless moment" you mean the squad needs to stop talking or is there noise from elsewhere? and where on the map is moira? I assume the "M" but I thought I'd gone ahead of the group to scout? Do we have a vague idea where on the map the noises are coming from?

Yep, I basically mean the squad keeping silent for another "round" of checks, if you so prefer.

Also, Moira was bringing up the rear, so continuing despite Lucky's sign would indicate that she only reaches the group at this moment. And in any case, it's better at the moment in a tactical sense, believe me.

The noises sound like they're coming from across the cavern: possibly from one of the three eastern exits on the map.

Lol. It's at this point that I could see Ian wanting to confiscate those pistols.
This is more for comedic relief tbh.

Why would Ian want to confiscate the pistols? We could have avoided this encounter if we continued to sneak around from the south, but Ian wanted to move loudly and poke the boss :P

Remember Ian hates guns. It's part of his schtick to not like the boomschtick.
On a different note, I have no idea if that's going to bring down Immortal or not.

Lucky loves his guns, though :P

The Immortal also seems to be under some mind control. We may want to just restrain him as long as possible, and try to find a mind controller hiding in the back.

Moira was hiding but as he moved past her, her cover was negated.

Also, yeah, default rules for grappling. Unless it becomes impossibly complex.

Okay! My schedule is more or less stable now. It looks like Leolin's already doing pretty much what she needs to do, though; keep grappling, keep trying to gradually wear him down.

Yeah, it's pretty much all we CAN do. None of us have any mental powers. I do have a character in the backburners that does, but that's the issue: she's a possible backup and not in the game nor guaranteed to be unless Ian can somehow take Leadership.

sorry for the delayed and lame reply, i've been busy the last few days and had to go refresh myself on grapple rules. i'll probably add more flavor to my post later. i def failed both checks due to my abysmal rolling though.

Hmm, it seems that I may have to come up with a ruling for the multiple grappling situation, because even though there's an option to "break another's pin", there's no "break another's grapple", which makes not a lot of sense. So, here is my errata:

    Break Anotherís Grapple
If you are grappling an opponent who is grappling with another character, you can make an opposed grapple check with a -4 modifier in place of an attack. If you win, you break the hold that the opponent has over the other character. The opponent is no longer grappling with the character.

There actually is but it's not explicitly stated. If you win the opposed grapple you gain control of the grapple and become the 'grappler' even if the other guy initiated it in the first place. You can release a
grapple whenever you wish if you are in control of the grapple.
Beating that grapple though is gonna be a real pain.

Oh wait, I just reread your first post and yeah you are correct. There's nothing in srd on breaking someone else's grapple on someone else. (Missed the 'else' part...)

However, I did another check since WotC have put up a bunch of walkthroughs for 3.5 and I came back across "All About Grappling" from one of the co-authors.
    This section should help:
The grappling options presented in the Player's Handbook cover most things you'd want to do while grappling, but here are a few more (strictly optional) possibilities.

Break Another's Hold: This works just like breaking another's pin, except that you use it against a foe that merely has a hold on another character. If you win the opposed check, you free the character you're helping.
There's also a bunch of other fun things like throwing people to the ground. However, that's the optional stuff he mentions too.

Yeah, just thought I should at least mention it.
Oh, I forgot to do this:

    Knowledge (Psionics):(1d20+15)[31]
Well that should tell Ian what is active on Immortal or at least tell him that he's naturally that large/buff. (Although I have no idea how that would work if that's all natural.)

Yep, as far as the effects Ian can physically discern, the size and musculature allude to Expansion plus Animal Affinity: Strength.

I think Saint would probably have the best chance of having a power like that. After all, he raises the dead. At the very least, he has the power that gives the most longevity out of all of the powers we've seen.

However, immortality might not be such a great thing... think about the guy in Greek mythology that had a bird literally eating him every morning because he couldn't die...

Ian can't use it on Immortal due to weight limits, but if he would use it on Moira, I'd let Ian do a grapple check for her with his manifester level + Int bonus + possible inspiration bonus.

Or, I can let Ian "aid another" Leolin for a +2 bonus on her grapple check.

Or, are there any other shenanigans you can think of?

    Elemental Push (Sonic)
Last I checked, me trying to use it on an enemy Leolin was grappling would have forced her out of the grapple.
Whether I hit Moira or Immortal is another matter. Moira could intentionally fail the push save but the damage could put her at risk.
