Don't have a map prepared. but its assumed because its a small village that the characters know enough about the town to get to the key points mentioned in the village description. think your hometown, you may not know every knook and cranny but you know more than enough to not need a map. the only real map that you can get is a map of the tunnel network (sewers, essentially.) that run beneathe the town. and even then its not really a map, it would just be a descriptor to help you reach your destination faster. (I.E. you reach a fork in the tunnel one path leads off to the left, the next to the right. IF you have the map (assuming you actually use the tunnel network) and lets say you need to get to the barracks quickly. you or the person with the map, would "know" which path you need to proceed through to get there. else you run into the chance of not going where you need to be.)

    What's our mission here?

    Are we an occupying force?

    Expecting an external threat?

    Just doing policing?

To quote the intro there it's a growing tension between the aristocracy and serfs. It has yet to make it to your village exactly but the leaders of the village have nonetheless called forth the militia as extra 'policing'in hopes that the extra man power will help keep the village neutral. Keeping either side from occupying the village. Essentially your conscripted forces.

Just to be clear, in other villages and in the Kingdom the sound of battles have already come and gone. Nothing serious but It has everyone on edge. Especially those in government, as most those in government align themselves with aristocracy side of the conflict. Thus again your village has yet to come into the fray and the militia being called forth is a front to keep forces from occupying the town. It keeps rebel splinter cells from trying to usurp power and with the extra man power the crown doesn't see a need to stockpile extra troops there in the village and instead focuses his attention elsewhere. Though your players don't know this. They've heard rumors of the fighting but nothing substantial

    attempting 1 dice roll: [/roll]1d6[roll]
    2) (1d6)
    3) (1d6)[5]
    4) (1d6)[2]

First you can't do rolls in an edit, don't know why but they won't work. You have it down though just like you posted in the 4th try.

Though if everyone cares I'd like you to use rollv, rollv allows you to roll multiple times. This will help in determining critical, and confirms as well as triple threat crits for instance

    Bandit 1 attacks
(3d20)[11][5][9](25) + 3 (you have to do the add after the roll else it messes up. Though just just means you add 3 manually.)

You can see all three rolls and thus no need to roll more if you happen to critical

Thumbs up Re: The test of your powers an endless guantlet

so it should without the spaces if I'm typing this right:
    [ roll v ] 1d6 [ / roll v] or [ roll b ] 1d6 [ / roll b ]
    and that should work?
Never mind, saw that you said my fourth attempt would have worked!

Okay here is where we are getting our signals crossed, I think that we need to like set the school house(s) a little bit on the outskirts of our place and set it a top of hill, like that red barn school house from the movie Mega-mind.
We need a little more clarity on where things are located.

The school isn't far from where your barracks are located. In the description I note this.

Nothing is exactly close to each other, other than the barracks and the school. I will go further to say that the market is on the far west end of the village. Most of the residential area is to the north. And the barracks as well as the school are located in the south. The judicial buildings are obviously in the center.

Also I should now their are other barracks poised as housing throughout the village. The party should encounter a few of them at random.

Ok so that is how it works:

    Diplomacy 7+(1d20)[3](3) = 10

    Sense Motive 4+(1d20)[14](14) = 18

    Gather Info 6+1(1d20)[19](19) = 25

So if they let her talk to anybody she might find out something, but that's a good initial roll.

How big is the population here BTW?

We hear small village, which implies 400-900 adults; which with 100 or so kids in school seems about right

your about correct yes, its roughly that size... the dimensions of the village are around 1 mile in length, by 2 miles. roughly... but its rather a minor detail. it would take somewhere in the ball park of 10-15 minutes to reach the most northern end of the village from the most southern end. and around 20-30 to go from east-west (You have the market and more people to contend with here as well.) if you circled the entire village (as the perimeter patrol is 'attempting' to do.) it would take roughly an hour to fully circumnavigate the village.

Ok, so it's not very concentrated and a lot of homes are largely sitting surrounded by their own fields and gardens.

at full sprint ill say you can get to them in around 10 rounds.

So 5 if Robina is Expeditious (60ft), 15 for Ander (20ft), 8 or so for Jon (40ft)?

Not really no. I don't feel like keeping up with three different times the players will arrive on scene. So assuming someone hears Oorths whistle you will all arrive at the same time.

Also 10 is about the average of these numbers and seems fair for all intents of purpose.

I was reasonably certain that it wouldn't really matter either way but she'll still cast because otherwise it will be a case of "Forgot about my powers"

Okay, I know today is a big combat day, but can one of you take over for me.
Just post up for combat and stuff, I won't even care about style. I wish this game to move forward, but today...Since I told people I can do "SIMPLE" house repairs, somehow it ended up with me trying to repair a house foundation.
Hopefully it is just for today and the repair is actually simple.

Don't threat, I will be back however!

Since there are what? 8 or so rounds until you 3 will participate the battle (and we are hopefully victorious by then) I guess nobody has to fight for you...

Yeah, unless a lot more bugbears show up the fight will more than likely be complete by that point.

Yea i mean im rolling pretty well after that damn 1. To start the fight, kinda wishing i had kept cleave instead of getting extra rage lol
And Frederic is there a reason you are trying to charge? ( i cant remeber usernames so forgive me) im not tryn to sound ..obnoxious? Is the word i think but going for flank would have been more efficient at the time ,
I havent looked at any sheets except to check skills for CN fish since he is relatively new to dnd so i don't know if you have anything special going for charging is all.

Also yay mighty barbarian guard!! Thats just a fun description lol

Okay. I'm going to charge, because Frederic is cleric of Kord, the deity of strength and stuff. He may be thin and fragile, but oh boy, his greatsword he can handle. He's made for melee (except his lower hp and ac, but that's what spells are for, right?)!

And because of moving to a better position last round, he can charge AND flank! Last round I wouldn't cast bless and then move into the enemies fist without doing something.

Are you guys still getting notifications about postings? This has happened to me in other games I just stop getting notifications completely. I have to constantly check the forum or someone tells me that everyone has posted for me to know that anything has gone on.
