    Default 200 strips late...

But I was doing a re-read of the archives and 914, last panel...

Shouldn't it come out of Sabine's Helliday bonus?

Yeah, yeah, I'll show myself out...

That's right - George R. R. Martin; a writer so ruthless, his name is a verb akin to Samuel L. Jackson. Valar morghulis.

Which makes me think: since she seemed to really like Nale, couldn't she ask that her bonus be paid not in money/soul energy/whatever they have as currency, but instead with a spell (Rezz Nale)?

I'm sure there are spellcasters somewhere in the Lower Planes who can cast 9th level cleric spells. If the IFCC can intervene on the Material Plane to raise Nale, they might be allowed to move one of said casters to the Material Plane, too. (Or they could try to convince Redcloak to do it, whatever.)

It won't happen, but I guess it's theoretically possible.

I don't think Sabine's salary is worth that much effort.

Yeah, probably not. Though, like Nale, she might have hundreds of thousands of gold in adventurer's loot, and the IFCC might see an upside to getting one of its more powerful pawns back. So if Rich somehow wanted it to happen, I could see it coming about.

But like I said, I'm sure it won't happen.

I expect it'd become a "do a favor that money, even the 26,530gp casting this spell would normally be valued at, can't buy" sidequest. Which, of course, would allow for the IFCC just making the introductions between Sabine and a caster they have connections with; that might be in the range of (what's left of) her bonus.

There is also the option of just fetching his soul from whichever evil plane it landed in and giving him an early bump above the level of dretch or lemure. They get to keep their pawn, Sabine gets Nale (or a Nale shaped thing) and it didn't involve using near epic magic to do it, just a bit of paperwork and a bureaucracy that probably doesn't care what the IFCC does as long as it isn't too blatant.

I still don't expect that to happen.

I think it's very likely that the IFCC would balk at doing anything to facilitate one of their employees acting motivated by anything like love.

I thought that high-level characters generally seemed to retain their stats once they arrived in the lower planes, probably because they’re more useful to their fiendish overlords that way. Wouldn’t be surprised to be wrong, as I haven’t read any splatbooks that deal with this specifically, but the fact that the Soul Splice mages, at least, seemed to retain their stats appears to be evidence for this. (I suppose they could have lost them and then regained them later, but that seems ... unnecessarily complicated.)

Meh, as long as we’re dealing with unlikely hypotheticals (such as Nale coming back at all), I wouldn’t be super surprised if they didn’t recognize her anger as genuine love (or care if it was). She is a succubus, after all.

Eh....It could go either way, really; the IFCC's stated goal is to unite the fiendish races, the whole deal with Vaarsuvius shows they're willing to interact with mortals to advance that cause, and the organization may be young enough that employee turnover might have too much of an impact to disregard.

If there was a way to align Sabine's personal goals with the IFCC's professional goals, they could easily have enough incentive to go with it.

If such love can be used to further their goals... I think they wouldn't really see a problem with that. Remember, their love is not a "Let's leave everything behind and form a happy family thing", is more like a "let's make human sacrifices during our dates" one.
