Could a cleric become an IotSV?

As title.
After a part of game, my DM allows us to rebuild our character. And I just want to give him a fright.

The entry requirements can be met by a Cleric.

However, the class will only advance arcane spellcasting, so your Cleric will lose 7 levels of spellcasting.

So you'll just get the Wardings (which are quite decent, but not as good as the lost spellcasting).

This is probably not a good trade.
