Ah, sorry, have I jumped the gun a bit? Having a mass catch up on games and may have been over-zealous

All the pbp games I've ever been in have players post their actions and then have the DM adjudicate the round as best as possible - saves waiting. But I see we're still in the surprise round. Oops. Just assume this happens later.

So... I'm getting extremely confused by this combat. So, organizing things!

Round 1: Wolf attacks Alice, Alice flails back.

    Init:
    Fliggl: 21
    Dayme: 11
    Alice: 7
    Beb: 4
    Tifa: 3
    Heather: 3

    Illven: No known roll.
At this point, I think we need Illven to intervene.

I identify things based more on color than anything else. My response would be "Use the green icon." (Which of course you get to via the green/yellow/blue triangle thing, i.e. Google Drive.) I'm always amused to see how my brain works differently from other people's.

I at least want to make the wolves work for their half elven snack!
Now, if only whips threatened...(I suppose I can't really complain, since I'm using it as a ranged weapon...)

Fliggl, I don't think you can go diagonal across a creature, which means you have no more movement J15.

It's possible to set the map to "anyone who has a link to the page can edit it", if you'd like faster combats. That setting won't change anything else about your Google account. In my experience letting the players adjust the map requires much less back-and-forth, even accounting for the times we make mistakes.

    Spoiler: How-to
    Show
Click "File" in the top left of the map's page, then "Share ..." at the top of the resulting column. You'll have to tell the popup window two things -- who you're talking about ("anyone with the link") and how much access they get ("can edit").

I'm now having flashbacks to a maptools game I was a player in.

E6, we were at 6th level, with 3 feats.(Warlock, Alchemist, Duskblade, Swordsage)
The DM decided wolves would be an appropriate enemy, and sent four at us. Just regular wolves, nothing special.

The alchemist and swordsage both went down. The warlock was at 25% hp(DR 6/Cold Iron), and the duskblade was at 3 when we finally managed to finish them.
We got four rolls above a 3.
They never rolled below a 19.
    Combat lasted for 6 rounds.

In later encounters in that same campaign, if we saw wolves, we noped.

Personally I'm pleased at the way things are shaping up ... because so far, I can hit three with a single breath attack We'll see if that's still true when it's my turn.

I have a longspear, but I can't use it for opportunity attacks yet because I'm flatfooted. As appropriate for a guy with single-digit perception results.

Also a fan of breath attacks that don't need a roll to hit.

Also a fan of trying to get the heck out of harms way.

map question should heather not be next to alice?

issues / questions with present combat

However the others are not so affected, as the big boss charges forward lunging at Heather who is clad in leaves.

    Bite (1d20+13)[29] - granted hits
    Damage (1d8+10)[14]
Trip mod (1d20+11)[28] - Making a Trip Attack: Make an unarmed melee touch attack against your target. - granted hits

If your attack succeeds, make a Strength check opposed by the defender's Dexterity or Strength check (whichever ability score has the higher modifier). presuming boss is large it gets a +4 modifier
heathers str mod is +2 - Heather's resist (1d20+2)[4] - presume this is for that... but I am lacking a roll for that wolf - was that a secret roll gm?

This provokes an attack of opportunity from heather which she should get - prior to the next wolf - debatable if from prone or standing

heather is nommed for 14 points of damage, and swept off her feet.

One of the wolves also rushes forward for Heather

    Bite (1d20+4)[14]
    Damage (1d6+1)[3]
Trip mod (1d20+1)[7] if prone then there is no trip attempt
    Heather's resist (1d20+2)[5]

Since Heather is prone, she is hit for a further 3 points of nom damage.

    - possible 17 damage

guess I need to pull the Drakken Familiar from its Familiar Pocket - can that be done as the AoO ?
if so it would have the possible ability to take the 2nd wolf and not heather

Wolves get free trips when they deal damage. It's what makes them such an effective enemy.

    Trip (Ex)

A wolf that hits with a bite attack can attempt to trip the opponent (+1 check modifier) as a free action without making a touch attack or provoking an attack of opportunity. If the attempt fails, the opponent cannot react to trip the wolf.

Assuming that the familiar pocket is as the spell, it's a free action to call it forth, or for it to leave. Consequently, it can't be freed as an AoO(As you can only take free actions when you're taking another action.)
However, it can be freed as a part of an AoO.
That said, at the moment, Heather can't take an AoO, as she's flat footed, as she hasn't acted in this combat yet.

    Does this make sense?
