What do you carry your dice in?
So I've used actual felt draw string bags that were marketed as dice bags, but I've also used ziplock bags (back in highschool when I was supplying dice for the whole group, bought em $20 for a pound). Also of note, Crown Royal whiskey bags seem to be a bit of a staple, at least in my circles. Not really sure what that says about my friends and family though. I had a friend who carried a single set in an old film canister.

I made my own draw-string bag from some scraps of some nice material.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
At present I have two bags similar to the commercial dice bags (neither of which actually are commercial dice bags), one of which holds Fudge dice and one of which holds everything else. Prior to that I had one of these bags, and prior to that I used a plastic Parmesan cheese bottle, with d10s sequestered in an old peanut butter jar.
I would really like to see a game made by Obryn, Kurald Galain, and Knaight from these forums.
I'm not joking one bit. I would buy the hell out of that. -- ChubbyRain

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
I second the pencil case. For a collection of all the dice I could reasonably need for actual gaming. Or day to day life. Or decisionmaking. Why flip coins when you can have a d2?
I also have various containers for dice at home for the rest od my collection, that I carry them should I need an unusual amount of dice, usually those I bought them in. (I mean, carrying 5d6 everywhere? Normal, reasonable, but if I'm gonna play Shadowrun I'm gonna need a few more ;) )Last edited by Floret; 2018-06-13 at 06:18 AM.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
Oddly enough i'm in the middle of a craft project converting one of these into a combination dice box / tray.
I've felt lined it to stop the rattling and replaced the hinges / catch with neodymium magnets so I can take the top off to use as a dice tray. Decoration is still in progress
Prior to that a leatherish bag I think came with a camera.

I used to a bit of LARPing some years ago, and I now use one of my old leather belt-pouches as my dice bag.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
Everyone at my table has a crown royal bag just for dice, but only half or so of the table uses them at any given time. One player has a custom bag they got at a MLP convention, another has a dice bag that looks like a mimic treasure chest.
Mine is some fancy soap or perfume drawstring, and I can't remember for the life of me where I got it. I am partial to any kind of soft drawstring bag.Guides

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
Hmm, I have a giant ugly looking box that I made with cardboard and duct tape. It holds all of the stuff I need for gaming, including a dice tower, I have been working on making it an actual sellable plastic product. Though I’d need a decent sized 3D printer and a large loan to do so
78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. If you're one of the 22% that didn't, copy and paste this into your signature.
Mine started in the middle of a desert escorting a courier on a diplomatic mission. After she’s got killed by bandits, things got hectic.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
Went to a Powwow with my dad (an actual native american powwow) and got a cool handmade leather drawstring bag for a good price.
Funny story: my buddy called while they were dancing around the fire while chanting and playing drums.
My friend was like, "what the hell is that noise?!"
i then had to spend a few minutes explaining i was at a legit powwow

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
I actually asked this here a month or two back looking for suggestions, looking more for larger scale storage as opposed to a bag for a few sets. I do have a number of felt bags, a crown royal bag, and even a chain mail bag I got as a gift... which are all great if you have something like a pound of dice and want them all mixed up, or only 2-3 sets... but when you have 10+ sets and like to keep them organized, it just was not working for me.
So after a lot of searching, I found my new solution

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
I stumbled on this, but it's actually worked really well. I keep my full collection in a vintage jewelry box. They already come with partitions that let me sort my dice by character or type. When I'm going to a game, I put them in a makeup bag. They're not that expensive, and yet again, often come with separation pockets/sections built in. Plus they zip closed and I don't have to worry about stuff falling out

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
An Altoids tin.
I have an old felt drawstring bag that was eventually replaced with a foldover bag made of scraps of upholstery leather, but I realized at some point that I would pick through my bag at the start of the session and fish out four d6's and one or two of each of the others. So I went looking for something that would hold 4d6 plus two of each of the others. Enter my Altoids tin.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
I have a big old dice bag for non-standard dice (including loads for games I no longer have), full sets I like to have in their own little drawstring bags.
It's kind of handy to just be able to pick up a couple of full sets without having to fish around for them.
Plus I can just toss over a little bag when someone forgets their dice.
I won't part with the odd dice though - even though it's been about a year since I last delved into it (looking for a d30 I think).Last edited by spinningdice; 2018-06-14 at 11:50 AM.

A large metal tin, about a quart in volume.
With a plastic jar at home, of equal size, for the extras. The most important thing in being an adult is learning exactly what to give a <expletive> about, and exactly how many of those to give.

I have a drawstring bag that my mom made me thirty-odd years ago. I've had to replace the drawstring two or three times.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
When I do use physical dice? A felt lined box.
At the call center I worked during Christmas '11 the company got bought out recently and the upper management tried to buy everyone off with a nice little felt-lined, hinged wooden box with a metal plaque that has the company's logo on it, stuffed with individually wrapped Werther's Originals. I ate all the sweets and proceeded to revel in my nice dice box.
I can fit 3 standard sets of D&D dice (1d4, 4d6, 1d8, 1d10, 1d%, 1d12, 1d20. 2 sets of white on solid black and one set of black on solid white) and two sets of Genesys dice, as well as a square plastic box (just big enough for 2 kinder surprise toys in it to use as PC stand-ins, and the box can be used to indicate someone is flying by placing it under a fig), and have it shut nicely. I can shove a bit more in if I want to, but it threatens to open up and spill out in my kit bag otherwise. Rolls very nicely, keeps the dice from scattering stuff on the table and when your dice are on fire the GM can't really call hax on the way you're rolling... though when your dice are hating you, you've got no one to blame but RNGeesus.

I do have a bag with random stray dice i've accumulated over the years, but they're far less consistent in color and generally more eclectic in a "pound of dice" sorta way, as well as many being much harder to read then the solid-on-solid of my main 3 sets.Last edited by oxybe; 2018-06-15 at 03:53 AM.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
For my complete sets, I use a pair of plastic jewelry/bead/thread containers with adjustable compartments. It doesn't fit the whole collection (which I keep loose in various containers) but it does give me 26 complete sets, plus about 30 loose D20's, a dozen loose D12's and D10's, and a handful of 8's, 6's, and 4's. And a body parts hit die.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
Ive got a chain link drawstring bag which I mostly don't use anymore, a little plastic case for my "I need to dump about 10 D6s on the table all at once" dice that they all came in, and a crown royal bag for various unsorted dice. My main sets of dice I have in little individualized fabric drawstring bags my mom got me for Christmas one year.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
Back when we got together IRL, I had a little treasure chest box from one of those craft store chains that I painted like a classic D&D loot box. My dice are still in there, waiting for an IRL game...

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
i carry my dice in a handmade knit zipper bag that is kind of rectangular? i've no idea what the creator made it for, but i traded my pinky ring for it. it's garish: neon green and yellow, a bit fuzzy, and holds about a pound's worth of dice. i love it.
i was at a rave party, and a nice old hippy lady was trading (not selling, trading. she was very specific about that) all those hand-knit objects. the blacklight caught that pouch like a mouse in a trap. upon seeing it, it was a bit bigger than my then dice bag so i knew i had to have it for that exact purpose. frankly, not even the weirdest conversation i ever had at a rave (that would be early medieval byzantine politics during a stoner rock concert).
plus side, since it's neon yarn, it really stands out and i never lose my dice! i like loud colors.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
I use a small wooden box with a decorative brass inlay. Very similar to this one, but without the hidden lock. It holds five sets of dice nicely, and I like that it looks like something you might find in a D&D game. The giveaway that it's more modern than that is the screws in the hinges, but they're small and only visible when it's open.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
In 6th grade we had a Christmas "book report" that required a gift from one character to another to put on the tree. I was reading "The Call of the Wild" and it included a bit where Buck's owner carved doggie moccasins out of his own moccasins for Buck. So I made four felt "Bucky booties" sized to fit my dog (who happened to be the right breed for mushing, but I suspect Buck was more like a Newfoundland or similar). My teacher loved them and thought they were the cutest things ever (this was back in 1980 and I doubt I heard of doggie shoes in actual use until 2000) and I used it as a dice bag for years afterwards.
Unfortunately, I've moved at least once too many times and haven't see it. Most of my dice are from after it disappeared.

Re: What do you carry your dice in?
I carry my dice in a cardboard box with "Time Machine" written on the side. Many years ago my sister and I, probably inspired by Calvin and Hobbes, made it to try and travel to the future.
