I think a page of Hanners is about all that Jeph is going to give us for a while. TBH I think he grew tired of drawing her as a character with this one trait (OCD), because it made for so many fanfics that even Shelby found it distasteful (and the dog's dead, too).

Yes but instead of her coming back after a year and be "look at me, I'm normal, hugs and kisses for everyone, and this here is my boyfriend" it might have been nice to see the change a bit more than in two cutaway panels.

Based on what we have seen of her life, and from my own conversations with people who have flavors of OCD, its pretty definitely debilitating to her, and she's not happy with that. She seems to have gotten over the worst of it, and so from that perspective she can be said to be cured, but she still has to live with the impulses and instincts that these things are badwrong and need to be fixed.

Not loving the new way Jeph draws noses on the main cast women. Funny bit though. I love the idea that Hanners is afraid of human contact, but only has a problem with an undersea lab when some monster of the depths decides to look in and see what's up.

Well, she did grow up in a space station. It's not quite the same, but there is a shared element of vulnerability; in both cases, your survival is very much dependent on the continued integrity of the structure you live in.

The time change between this comic with Claire and Pintsize seems less than would be expected, given what has happened elsewhere.

Honestly, I was rather fearing Pintsize would be totally helpful and not have a moment like this at all.

I mean, I'm struggling to think of a time when one of the QC gang just out and out failed at something. Faye getting fired from the coffee shop was one, but otherwise.... They kinda lead charmed lives, a bit of conflict might be good for the plot.

I agree with you (though I guess you could argue in a few more failures, e.g. breakups) but it's rather normal for fiction to contain more successes than failures. With some exceptions, of course. But it's still largely more common for people to succeed than to fail.

In his defense, a) the worrisome expression appeared after he had left the room, and b) everyone who has exams talks about how stressed out they are because of said exams. The only expressed cause of any specific worry other than general exam stress was here, and that was some time ago and to Clinton, who likely hasn't encountered Marten since that point, since they only seem to hang out or run into each other at events mediated by other characters.

Ursula, derived from the Latin "Ursa" which means "she-bear". Possibly a reference to its... girth.

Alternatively, St. Ursula is the patron saint of archers. Something something "impaled by a long pointed object" something, I'll let you fill in the details.

Marten's easy-going manner and occasional naivety is a part of his charm. It's hardly his fault if someone lies to him, and he believes it.

There was a strip once where someone asked Pintsize why he's such a terrible companion. And he replies by basically saying, he was Martens only friend for years, and finally got him to be more outgoing and now he got all those other friends, which means he doesn't need an AI companion as such anymore. So he's just the goofy roommate now.

But it seems when needed he can still fill that role quite well.
