Default Balanced Way to Wield an Intelligent Weapon as a PC

There is a intelligent weapon class I stumbled upon earlier!

    http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showt...-t-let-go-quot

How would you balance this in a way that would allow a player to play both wielder and weapon?

IE, wielder being an NPC class, or perhaps both weapon and wielder being lower level, etc.

Or should I just take the Leadership feat and be wielded by a Cohort?

Any ideas, fluff or mechanics, would be greatly appreciated!

Default Re: Balanced Way to Wield an Intelligent Weapon as a PC

It'll take a few levels for you to get something out of it, but you can make a Fiend of Possession that possesses a weapon and you can have a cohort wield it and then just control your actions in battle as normal.

I actually did this a while back as a part of making Maka and Soul from Soul Eater, Soul being the Field of Possession of course. http://www.giantitp.com/forums/shows...&postcount=130 Make sure your Cohort has the fighting style you want to play around with as your weapon-character, and you're gold. Just make sure your GM is okay with you doing this, since I know some people don't like Leadership in their games.
