Rowan's blast burns the beast as Goma slashes across its flank. The Water prince nimbly gets into flanking position as 'Riq stabs its underbelly. Akaash runs over it, but before he can get into position, it bites him. Thankfully he was able to escape its maw before it could fully chew him up, but he still took 25 damage (7 of it acid) before slamming it in retaliation. For their part, the guard gather 'round Garavel, doing their best to keep him safe, Radi has quickly scrambled up a rock in a vain attempt to be safe from the death worm, and Shrazad moved to the east slightly, a look of concentration on her brows. Unfortunately, Akaash wasn't the only one who saw the mouth of the beast, as Goma was munched on for 40 damage (3 of it acid)!

The death worm falls against the associated might of the party, though not without injury. As the party takes a well earned breather, Rowan looks back, but can't see the glint that tipped him off. Malak's aide, Shrazad, does her best to patch up the injured.

Is there anything anyone wants to say, or should you continue along your way?

Glancing around, Rowan fails to notice the glint which made him aware of the danger in the first place. Curious, Rowan walks over to Malak and says, "Right before the worm appeared I saw a glint of light. After the fight I couldn't find it again. Could you perhaps divine the surroundings and see if it was more than a trick of the light?"

Rowan gestured to where he saw the glint. Further inspection of the area showed tracks leading off. Apparently a relatively large group of riders had been watching you eat and fight the worm. Do you go chasing after them, risking getting lost, or do you head back to the trade route and onward on your journey?

Closer inspection of the tracks proved them to be of gnolls. Malak was of the opinion that you shouldn't try and hunt for them, but keep the idea of being followed in your mind.

Does everyone agree with the Khwaja's opinion, or do you want to hunt these guys to their source?

[[Sorry. I'm gearing up for a Roll20 game I'm GMing and got distracted. Plus, I forgot how much I suck at open-world sections via play-by-post. I'll try to be more on the ball in future.]]

It's been about two weeks since the gnoll attack. You have caught glimpses here and there, but no further assault by the gnolls. There's been a few things of note, but none you couldn't handle easily enough. The guards that Garavel brought still seem to claim that they're better fighters than you, but no one wants to test it. Garavel himself seems more bored by the trip as anything else. Shaharazad was her usual dour yet fastidious self and Radi was always keeping his eyes open, though at you guys in equal measure as the horizon.

You are about four-fifths the way to the capitol. Another minor oasis, like many you've seen dotted across the way here, though this one is noteworthy in it has a ruined stone sphinx nearby. This strikes many of you, the Water Prince especially, as an ambush waiting to happen. There is the sound of people trying to be quiet; you have no more that a minute or two before the assault begins. How will you prepare?
