    Default Deadlands Reloaded Question

    Hey guys and dolls,

    I have been trying to figure this question I have for awhile and needed to find the answer but its a bit specific...

    I just started running Deadlands using the 20th Anniversary rules (because they were accessible to me at the time). I am using the adventure 'Coffin Rock' for intro for my
    players.

    My problem is that the critters in the adventure have something called 'Toughness' and are written wierdly - they only show the die type. Can you explain this to me? And also,
    is there a conversion system somewhere?

    Here's what the critter looks like:

    Attributes: Agility d6, Smarts d4 Spirit d4 Strength
    d6, Vigor d6
    Skills: Fighting d6, Intimidation d6, Notice d4
    Pace: 4; Parry: 5; Toughness: 7
    Special Abilities
    * Claws: d6+d4
    * Fear: Anyone who encounters a
    walkin’ dead must make a Guts
    roll.
    * Fearless: Walkin’ dead
    are immune to Fear and
    Intimidation.
    * Undead: +2 Toughness, +2
    to recover from being Shaken.
    Called shots do no extra
    damage. Arrows, bullets, and
    other piercing attacks do halfdamage.
    * Weakness (Head): Shots to
    a walkin’ dead’s head are +2
    damage, and piercing attacks do
    normal damage.

    Thanks for any help,
    Graham

    As written the toughness is listed as: 7, not a die type.

    So the 7 is the target number for the damage roll against that critter.

    Okay...thanks!
    So concerning the attributes...how am I to read: Agility d6? Am I supposed to assign Agility a certain number of dice?
    The example, from the adventure, doesn't tell me the number of d6's he has in agility. Confused.

    Thanks in advance,
    Gray.

    That's because you're reading a Deadlands: Reloaded adventure, not a Deadlands Classic adventure. That's a Savage Worlds statblock.

    Yeah those are Savage Worlds stats.

    Your agility there is a d6. As in when you use agility, you roll a d6. You roll it every time.

    I recommend checking out a web-comic called "Crystal Hearts." Crystal Hearts is all about Savage Worlds mechanics wrapped in a fun story to help illustrate how it works. I'd link it, but unfortunately I don't have that option at the moment.

    Also, Coffin Rock is a lot of fun. But it's a hard module. A couple of my player characters lost their lives in that scenario. But then again, they do call it Savage Worlds for a reason.

    The way I see it, SW is not a Western game with elements of Horror. It is a Horror game, set in the West. Thus plenty of death is expected.
