(Resolved) Can anti addition of bromide occur if both hydrogens are on the same side?
Starting with 4-methyl-2-pentene, both hydrogens on the double bond are on the same side, because the original pentyne was hydrogenated using Lindlar's Catylyst. I want to add Br2, but last I recall, the mechanism is anti-addition. Can the Bromide Ion still add?
EDIT: I'm stupid. Forgot that Double Bonds are flat and don't have sides. Can a moderator delete this stupid post?Last edited by MonkeySage; 2018-11-07 at 12:35 AM.
