Re: Rise of the Runelords IC
Adalber continues his 'sermon' while preparing a shot into melee. His arms shake from the excitement and fear of battle as well as the unsettling area. Goblins are voracious and can eat their body weight in food daily without growing fat. Goblin lairs always have numerous storerooms and larders. While they prefer human and gnome flesh, a goblin won’t turn down any food—except, perhaps, vegetables.

Justin
Justin rolls back, but still takes a slash to the arm, he curses inwardly as his lunge misses before spinning around lashing out at the nearest goblins, a raging shout of "Why! What did he did to you" as he can see his great uncle pinned to the wall at the back of the room.

Lizuga steps back to get room to swing her hammer. She turns her head and makes eye contact with Lebwen, and a wave of healing energy washes over him. Silna steps forward and leaps up onto the table. She waits for her moment, and fires a shot from her improved vantage point, hoping to bring down another of these beasts.

Re: Rise of the Runelords IC
Adalbert comes closer, putting the book on the table, and shoots at the nearest goblin not engaged in melee. Despite his target being covered by the ongoing melee, Adalbert hits, inflicting 1 damage. Justin attacks two goblins adjacent to him, managing to hit one in the belly for 6 damage. Lebwen swings at the other and cuts him for 9 damage, finishing with the goblins on the table. Lizuga steps back and swings at the goblin opposing her, but only hits tabletop. Silna leaps up onto the table and eyes the goblin in the middle of the room, but decides that he would be covered behind marble table just about too much, so instead targets another goblin further down the room, shooting him for 3 damage.
The goblins fight back. One, with a deep wound in the belly, attacks Justin, who sidesteps out of the harm's way. Not managing to hit his target, the goblin collapses to the floor in a pool of blood. The other follows Lizuga and hits her for 2 damage. The archer in the middle of the room shoots at Justin, almost scoring a hit through the chest, but not quite. Two goblins further back shoot at Silna, who dodges one of the arrows and is saved from the other by her trusty chain shirt.
SpoilerAs I read it, flowing creek counters an attack, not a hit. Is this correct or is there an alternative reading?

Justin
Justin dances back out of reach, swords swaying as the little beast collapses in its own blood. Seeing more arrows flying he points at the one up the room from him, a muttered "You're mine" before waving to the others and charging forward with a roar of "Sandpoint..." to inspire the others. he runs towards it, sword stabbing out towards it.

Re: Rise of the Runelords IC
Justin charges the goblin in the center of the room, piercing him through the chest for 11 damage. The goblin down, Adalbert shifts his aim further down the room and hits one of two goblins there as they slowly make their way out of the room, bolt hitting the goblin's arm for 5 damage. Lizuga shield-bashes already wounded goblin nearest to her into oblivion. Silna shoots the same goblin as Adalbert, but inflicting a mortal wound straight through the head for 8 damage. Lebwen advances closer to the last, and already wounded goblin, who finally decides that enough is enough, drops the bow and runs for his life, opening the double doors behind him only as much as necessary for him to get through. He slips between the doors and between Lonjiku Kaijitsu dead body's legs out of the room. The doors, still held together by Lonjiku nailed to them, close behind the goblin.
SpoilerI don't see any goblin in O31. Assuming Justin charges goblin in O23, which is only one that can be charged.
Justin's Brave Gambit gives +2 too, so it's 5, unless I am mistaken. Also, does Adalbert wear boots? If not, he would not be able to move fast on the floor of the room without risking injury.
The goblin spends his standard action to get through the door and move action to move. It would take a standard action to open the doors for good if you don't care about the corpse.

Justin kicks the goblin once on the floor as he nods to Lizuga thanking her for healing the small scratch. "Come one then, lets not let them get away." Waiting for the others to catch up with them he nods at the door "Let get 'em."Thanks to Emperor Ing for the nice Avatar

Re: Rise of the Runelords IC
Don't run into an ambush alone! Adalbert shouts before dealing with Lonjiku. He stops educating everyone else about goblins, not for the lack of facts that he suddenly knows about them, but to concentrate on the middle-aged man pinned in front of him.
Is he truly dead? How did he die? Why did he go here? Adalbert checks his pulse, and then anything conspicuous about the body.

Lebwen helps Adalbert remove Lonjiku from the door and lay him on the table. "I think he is well beyond our help, but can't just leave him there like that. While I would like to check things out a bit closer, right now I agree with Justin, we're expecting other people here, lets move quickly and see what we can find on our way back out."
Lebwen then peeks into the next room to see if there are any goblins waiting with bows.

Re: Rise of the Runelords IC
Lebwen and Adalbert remove Lonjiku from the door and lay him on the table. The man is beyond any doubt completely dead and pierced by many arrows, one of them through left eye. Other than him, there are about six bodies of murdered staff lying in various stages of dismemberment and some body parts are burning in the furnace. On the table in the center of the room, where a goblin was toying with glass-blowing equipment, there is a man's head encased in fresh glass and a few other pieces of goblin glass art. Justin recognizes the head as belonging to one of the glass blowers.
When the party assembles near the doors and opens them, the goblin is nowhere in sight and all of the other doors leading out of the room are closed.Last edited by u-b; 2019-01-19 at 01:28 AM.

Re: Rise of the Runelords IC
Now that the major stress is gone and Adalbert looks at the scenery, he unloads his stomach with a very ungraceful sound. Kneeling on the sand stone floor with shaky legs, he just whispers: I am so sorry. He hears Justin shout for him and the others, he pulls it together. If he won't falter, I will not be a burden.
I will scout the way ahead. You are capable warriors but much too obvious. If sympathy and jollyness was a halfling's trademark, it has now given way to grim determination. The halfling casts a spell and pulls his crossbow out to lead the way.

Re: Rise of the Runelords IC
Adalbert looks around what Justin says is a loading room. A wheelbarrow sits against a wall here, and shelves on the walls contain additional reagents to create different colors of glass. A safe on the floor hangs open. There are blood stains on the floor: something bloody was dragged here from the door to the right to the furnace room. A few fresh drops of blood are near the door to the left. Adalbert carefully opens the door and sheds some light from the room the party was in to the stairs leading down. Then Adalbert hears some activity from there, including a whisper. Adalbert does not recognize the words.

Re: Rise of the Runelords IC
"So it seems our friend has headed downstairs. But we can see there are probably more victims up here in the other rooms. Adalbert or Silina, what do you know about the nature of these goblins? They'll clearly know we're coming now once we head into the basement. If we give them time are they cleaver enough to set up a good ambush? If we take the time to check out the rest of the main floor are they likely to try to sneak up behind us or just cower in the basement waiting? Justin do you know if there is any way for them to get out of the basement other than up these stairs? Whichever way we decide to go, we should use the wheelbarrow and anything else we can find to block the other door to protect our backs"
Lebwen also checks the door that appears to lead outside to see if it has been opened recently and if it is locked. Trying to determine which was the goblins came in.
Is the stairways downstairs dark or can we see pretty well without light?

"Down it is then. Lets put a few things by these doors, both to the main furnace area and the side rooms before we head down." Lebwen moves a few things around to block the doors as best as can be done quickly.
"It isn't going to stop anyone for long, but we might at least hear them if they start trying to come through a door."
Lebwen then takes some small item from the floor, casts light on it, then tucks it into his pouch for later.

Re: Rise of the Runelords IC
As you discuss the plans, cast the spell and move the furniture, Adalbert hears more whisper and movement from down below and sees the reflected illumination from a source of light moving closer then further away. Then all movement ceases. Adalbert enters, closely followed by Silna. He's not surprized to encounter someone down below waiting for him just around the corner near the end of the stairs. The person waiting there does not seem to be surprized either, and he is marginally faster to react. Despite having a bow in one of his hands, he attacks with a fist, striking Adalbert straight in the head for 4 damage, stunning the halfling. Adalbert drops his crossbow and is unable to react to the second attack, a kick right in the center of the armor.

It is rather dark down below. There are two sources of light: the door through which you entered and something like a lantern or a torch some distance forward behind a corner. Everyone with only normal vision gets 20% miss chance. The guy's medium sized and clearly not a goblin.
=> Silna then everybody else, except Adalbert

Silna Glintstone—dwarf ranger
Seeing Adalbert attacked, Silna lets her crossbow drop and descends the last few steps, drawing her greataxe. She faces the new foe and lets loose a powerful swing of her axe.
Spoiler: OOCSilna moves to F6, dropping her crossbow as a free action and drawing her greataxe as part of her move.

At the sound of combat, Lizuga rushes down the stairs. "You shouldn't have let them sneak off without you, Lizuga Manescu! Now look at what they've gotten themselves into!", she chides herself.
