That was the cue. Macil strode into the entryway and took aim at the orc.

"This is something of a long shot, but not too much of a longshot." He released, stowing his bow without waiting for the arrow to reach its target.

Yuri waits until Aidan has distracted the goblins, and takes careful aim at one in the back, focusing her power as she carefully makes a motion with two fingers of her outstretched right hand, and whispers an intense word in Primordial.

*"Freeze."* A white ray leaps from her fingertips, aimed at one of the rear goblins.

Dain yells ferociously and bellows ”Bwahaha!! Ye be greener than ye look!” before spitting on the goblin corpse and banging his warhammer against the front of his shield.

When his next action comes up Dain will charge into the group of three goblins in the middle of the room and attack the nearest one.

The orc roars in anger, and charges, moving far faster than the peg-leg would suggest him being able to.

He reaches Macil, and lashes out with wickedly curved claws.

Dain's hammer smashes into the orc, knocking him back a few paces. The orc snarls, and barks orders at the goblins, their eyes still on Macil.

Well that was unexpected.

And painful. On the plus side, he'd definitely yelled loud enough to get everyone's attention.

He grabbed his shortsword and thrust upwards.

The orc gets stabbed, leaving a heavily bleeding wound. He's not out yet, though, and seems to be bleeding some kind of strange pus, rather than blood.

The slowed goblin backs the hell away to the edge of the room, while the two others on the ground stay there.

”Bwaha!! This one’s a softy! Dain yelled over the clang of his armor as his hammer dug into the orc’s side.

If the orc attacks Dain and stays next to him, then Dain will attack the nearest goblin within 5 feet. If no goblins are within 5 feet then Dain attacks the orc. Either way, he’s snarling at the orc to draw his attention.

If the orc moves away from Dain somehow then Dain moves to him (if he can reach) and attacks, or attacks the nearest goblin threatening a party member, or just a goblin if those conditions aren’t met.

Yuri moves into the entrance of the room, but tries to stay far enough away from Macil and Dain that the orc cannot reach her, assessing the situation, before stretching out her hand once more, and aiming her fingers at whichever goblin is closest to Macil and Dain.

*"Freeze."* This time the word isn't whispered in Primordial, but her voice is surprisingly cold as she says it. The ray lances out once more at its target, and she's hoping it will refocus the goblins on her, giving the others time to finish the orc off.

Aidan, meanwhile, steps to Macil and murmurs a quick prayer, his hand without the shield glowing. He places it on Macil, healing his companion.

Dain's hammer then crashes into the orc, crushing through some ribs. The orc drops to one knee, gasping and coughing. Then, in broken Common...

I am taking you with me!

The orc bursts in a shower of gore and ichor, showering everyone except for Yuri and the goblin who fled to the corner of the room.

Yuri runs in as Macil and Aidan go down, and pulls the anti-toxin out of her pack. The remaining stench of poison fills her nostrils, though she's managed to avoid the damage from it. She quickly pulls the vial's stopper and carefully pours it down Macil's throat.


"Dain, can you secure that last goblin? He might be able to tell us something!"

She'll then set about trying to bandage Macil's wounds.

The orc, though, infuriated, aims to undo Aidan's work by clawing at Macil again.

Macil dropped to one knee and began to consider his life's choices to that point. He looked up at the hazy impression of Dain. Or maybe a goblin, whichever.

"Help."

Dain's hammer then crashes into the orc, crushing through some ribs.

"Than-"

I am taking you with me!

The orc bursts in a shower of gore and ichor, showering everyone except for Yuri and the goblin who fled to the corner of the room.

That was the last thing he remembered for a while.

It's DC 10 to stabilize an ally, as an action. Failure doesn't do anything bad.

The goblin is cowering, and slowly working her way towards the entrance, trying to stay unnoticed. The bright light makes that a virtual impossibility, though.

Macil is stable-it'll be a few minutes before he's even conscious, but he'll live.

Once she's done all she can for Macil, Yuri starts in on trying to get Aidan's wounds bound as well.

”ARGHHH!!!...CRAP!!” Dain yelled as the orc exploded and noticed his companions were on the ground. He looked around “YURI!! HELP ME OUT HERE!”. Coughing in the haze of poison left behind by the orc, Dain moved away from the area and acknowledged Yuri. ”Aye, leave him to me.”

Dain moves over to the goblin and demands “Drop yer weapon!!”

The goblin, clutching a broken vial, drops it. It breaks further on the ground. "Sorry!" she cries, in heavily accented Common. "I won't attack!"

Dain eyes the goblin and will attempt to tie her up with the rope he has. ”Mind yerself. Act out and I’ll be sure you end up like yer friends. Behave and we’ll show ye mercy.”

"Yes! Yes, okay, okay," she says, submitting to being tied.

Once she's tied and sat down in plain sight, it's a simple matter to do the same to the injured goblin that still lives. Dain, having common sense, sets them a few feet away from each other, to ensure no trickery can be pulled.

Yuri continues to triage Aidan, knowing his healing will be the key to getting Macil back on his feet.

Once she's done what she can for Aidan, Yuri will pull a rope from her pack and move up to Dain.

"Answer our questions, and we'll let you live. Were these all of your friends, or are there more somewhere else?" She sounds surprisingly cold, though the expression on her face is nowhere near that. She looks absolutely furious, lightning flowing through her irises like a raging thunderstorm.

"We... We were once many," she says. "But they came and separated us. We don't know if the rest still live."

"'They, being the orcs?" Yuri asks. "Are there more in this area, or were you the only ones?"

"Yes. They came. Snazzgar, our shaman, fought back. He died," she says. "They tore him apart."

Yuri's gaze wanders from the goblin for a moment. She dislikes the creatures in general, but it sounds like they're being used by the orcs to raid and don't actually want to be here or to harm anyone. She naturally falls to the alchemist's tools still littered about the cave, tools she's quite familiar with, having grown up around them.

Her eyes fall on a familiar red vial-a healing potion.

While the cork is undone and a little bit is missing, more than enough is left to at least stabilize her friend.

Yuri turns from the goblin, and quickly makes her way over to the open flask, examining it for a moment, before carefully taking it over to Aidan and pouring the remains down his throat. Hopefully, this will get the cleric back on his feet. She considers as she does this, then looks back to the goblin, and Dain.

"If we take the orcs down, will your people continue to raid, or will you return to your homes peacefully?"

"What home?" she says, bitterly. "It's gone."

"Homes can be rebuilt. As long as there are people left." A half-awake Aidan tries to join the conversation. "What are we talking about?"

Yuri frowns, clearly torn, now. Goblins were the reason she became a sorcerer, was kicked out of her home and told never to return. But these goblins aren't they, and they're clearly being used by the orcs, and she can't just let that stand, either.

"You can't go back to where they took you from? Would you be able to find a new place where your people could be happy without bothering the town or the travelers on the road?"
