Would an Sn2 reaction work with H2NROR and MeI?
I was thinking.... H2MeN+ROR and I- as a result of such a reaction?

Is this a serious chemistry question, or some sort of He-Man joke?

Serious question. :P
I never watched He Man, so I wouldn't know the references.

Re: Would an Sn2 reaction work with H2NROR and MeI?
Yes that is correct It would go with SN2 mechanism
Going more in deep, a reaction like
CH3O(CH2)nNH2 + MeI
Would work better with big n, so there is more distance between the nitrogen and the oxygen and the ammine is a better nucleophile. Also a polar solvent would help the reaction.Last edited by Ciffo; 2018-12-10 at 10:10 AM.

Re: Would an Sn2 reaction work with H2NROR and MeI?
Yes, but you should note that it would occur up three times.
First one would: Me-HNROR + HI
second one: Me2-NROR + HI
third one: Me3-N+ROR I- (Quaternary salt)
reaction conditions (time and solvent) could select one.
need a basic medium, or else you do a Ether Cleavage in parallel
