Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
performance gets so bad at the end, I can't finish the game I'm in right now. Even on fastest, it takes too long for a month to pass by. Not only that, but now the game seems to have confused itself, despite the fact that I have tens of thousands of alloys, I can't build any new ships, not even corvettes. It says I can't afford to build any new ships!

Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
But if that were the logic, why is the piracy suppression value far better (in terms of their cost in fleet power and alloys) for corvettes than for bigger ships? If pirates are figuratively pooping their pants at the sight of a few corvettes, a battleship ought to have them running for the hills!
That's my biggest objection to piracy suppression as it stands--I would rather that my piracy suppression fleets are general-purpose fleets I could theoretically use for home system defence as well, but that's not possible if they consist entirely of corvettes.Last edited by factotum; 2019-11-28 at 02:01 AM.

I dunno, because they're fast? One big ship might be scarier, but it's also a lot easier to hide from one ship than many ships.
Since they're on a patrol mode, you can probably envision them being more spread out than a standard battle fleet.

Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
...Huh. I habitually delete my games when they're not going the way I want them to. So when I resume play, it still shows me the option of resuming a game. Curious to see what would happen, I tried it.
It threw me into a new game with a random empire. No idea where it got that, maybe it was the random empire that was in my last game (huge galaxy but one other empire, hadn't contacted them by the time i quit). The name is "tonberrian", even when it begins a sentence. It's magic, I ain't gotta 'splain why.

Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
Over on the Stellaris forums there is a thread about the Void Dweller origin and what you get from it - https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...rigin.1289801/
Start with 3 habitats and the ability to build more, +15% output by specialists and workers but only on habitats, hydroponic farms have +1 farmers, but -10% growth rate and severe habitability problems on planets (like lifeseeded).
There is a bunch of theory crafting in the thread and it looks like the very first building that VD are going to have to build is another hydroponic farm and that they are going to fall behind on alloy production compared to most other empires. Given the rather high cost of building more habitats, they are going to fall well behind most other empires in colonisation unless they can grab robots or migration treaties to allow them to settle planets for them.

Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
Is Mechanized - or whatever it was called, the one where you start with robots - an origin now or could you combine that with Void Dweller?

According to the Dev Diary Mechanists is, indeed, an origin now.

Well Forum is back and so is Stellaris. So I guess it's time to post the teaser for Federations:

Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
Okay, so... apparently one of the Origins from the new expansion is starting on a quarter of a broken Ringworld. This seems pretty huge for those of us who enjoy building up to megaprojects, as you basically guarantee that you have a Mega Engineering project specifically to get the Galactic Wonders perk pretty early on. Interesting.

Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
Yeah, having the ringworld start will make you more likely to draw Mega Engineering and the other Megastructure techs, but you'll still need Mega Engineering to restore the other segments (and can only restore it to 3/4 because the other one is properly borked and is where all your minerals will come from at the start, as you can't have mining districts).
I thnk the Relic World start is going to be an interesting one, being able to transition your capital and best populated world to an Ecumenopolis early into the midgame will be potent (because you can restore a relic world without the ascension).

Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
Hey guys. I'm planning when Federations comes out to do a multiplayer game where any players I can get and I form a Federation against the new improved AI when Federations comes out. I'm going to be recording and making a video about it so we're just going to be joking around, having a good time, and aiding each other as we all get bonuses from this cohesive Federation we'll be apart of. Is there anyone interested?

Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
Hey guys, for those of you interested, we're going to be gathering on discord for multiplayer. For those who aren't apart of the semi-private gitp discord, here is a link to join that. It's basically a semi-private discord that was formed by a number of GITP folks.

It happens to have some people who have also used GitP. It is explicitly not associated in any way with GitP.

Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
How about since tomorrow is Saturday that we have all who are participating meet on that discord channel in a voice chat room at around 8am on Saturday PDT. Would that work with everyone? I think that is 3pm UTC?

Re: Stellaris III: Shop at the Paradox Megacorp!
For the record, what we discussed:
Time: Afternoon European time, though it's pretty flexible I think.
Restrictions: Everyone must be able to join the player federation. No Fanatic Exterminators, obviously, but some of the new origins also forbid it.
Patch: There will be a beta patch out on the day of the DLC's release, fixing and rebalancing stuff. I don't think we reached a decision on whether we'll be using the beta patch or the main branch.
There will also be a test game to make sure everything works properly. Am I forgetting anything else? Many thanks to Assassin 89 for this avatar!
