So, more generally: I know I've brought up the TV show The Shield on the forum before, and I don't know if anyone else has seen it, but if you have, I assume you had the same shuddering reaction I did upon seeing the comic's title was "Family Meeting."

You shouldn't pretend that reactions to The_Weirdo exist in a vacuum, and aren't based on his actual statements and behavior.

It's very disingenuous. Even if I do agree with the general sentiment of the forum not being as welcoming as it could be.

Against a coven of vampires bent on destroying the world within the next 24 hours (not that Hilgya necessarily knows this)? I guess the option exists, but it's not a great one.

She makes it clear she doesn't know or care about what's going on, beyond Durkon being there. And she doesn't want to listen either.

She straight up tells Roy and the others whether they came with her or not, she was going to fight the vampires with Kudzu with her.

You could say we have the benefit of hindsight in knowing how her going alone would have turned out, but even before the battle had started I think it was pretty clear "Going to fight a bunch of vampires, some fairly high-level, alone with a baby strapped to my chest" is a bad idea conceptually.

She does know that Durkon is trying to destroy the world.
But you're right that she doesn't particularly care.

It kind of loses its punch when you learn that Ozymandias is better known as Ramses the Second and is still a cultural icon three thousand years after his death.

France and England are in fact two different countries. I know from the perspective of Alabama they are pretty close together, but they are in fact different.

And crème brulée couldn't be English, it's palatable.

Very good for building wonders in Civ V. The Civ VI leader for Egypt is Cleopatra.

The French one? Catherine de Medici. And she's quite shrewd and espionage-skilled. There is no Italy (there's Rome, instead), but Catherine and Enrico Dandolo represent the Italians. Dandolo, for Venice, is money-focused and also quite shrewd.

So basically the people that do Civ see Italians as, well, Machiavellian, I guess.

Sorry, I'm excited for the new expansion.

Imean, obviously it was his show, so I never thought "on no he's on-screen again." But for a show that could have been called "Just How Low Can Walt Go," Dude just kept freaking digging. He was such an egotistical ass, and nothing was ever his fault (even though like 97% of everything was directly his and only his fault).

Does Kudzu like hearing older female relatives threaten people or does he just not like the idea of mashed carrots? He's frowning in that last panel but all smiles while Sigdi's pulling the rug out from under Hilgya - and it occurs to me he's usually happy with his mother, who is threatening more often than not.

My fave civ in Civ V was likely Venice, but that was partly because I liked Enrico Dandolo quite a bit.
Edit: Oh, I forgot the Shoshone! They were very good!
To be sure, Brazil wasn't bad in civ V either. Neither is Babylon. Then there's Polynesia in a Terra map: settle one city and send a settler to discover the New World. And then make the entire New World yours.

Of course, whenever anyone DOWed my civ, I'd not stop the war until they were destroyed. Which made other civs annoyed.

With the new grievance system in Civ VI, however? That won't happen anymore. I can take at least some three cities whenever they DOW me.
