((Since no one voiced any objections, I'll assume they follow.))

The broken road is rough, but it's better than walking on the ash-like ground. The hazy grey sky never seems to dim, leaving the landscape in a permanent sort of twilight, but after about what you think is a day and a half's travel, you spot a group of people, about twenty or thirty, heading along the road the other way. At first you thought it might be a group of soldiers, but as they get nearer, you can see that what you thought to be armor is the metal plating of warforged.

    Templar

Templar stops and raises a hand. Are you friend or foe?

The artificer looks around to see if there are any living people among the group of warforged. Thinking of the barren landscape, the broken roadway, and now this group of constructs surviving in this wasteland... he gets an uneasy feeling and stays back, letting Templar do the talking.

"I sure hope we didn't just walk into one of those anti-war magic-fiction stories where civilization has crumbled and all that remain are warring factions of tireless fighting constructs." he whispers under his breath. "Because those stories are so darn tedious and preachy that I can never bring myself to finish them."
