How do I buy a new case fan/tell how fat a fan is
So my desktop PC is in an Apevia case that isn't sold anymore, and I attempted to buy a new case fan for it only to find upon receiving it that while the length and width were fine that the fan was too thick to fit into the case. The original case fan is both large (200mm), but also skinny, and I'm not quite sure how to find that when looking at fan specs.
I plan on contacting Apevia to try and get some info from them, but I was hoping to get something more durable then what is normally included.

Re: How do I buy a new case fan/tell how fat a fan is
Most fans will have the size listed on the web page. For this one, the size is given at the bottom of the "Specifications" tab as "3.52 in x 3.52 in x 0.73 in", and you can even click that to change to mm. Measure the old fan, then go through and find ones with the same depth, and the other specs like noise level that you want.
Edit: whether those sizes are at all accurate is another question. When it shows 0.73 inches and converts to 25 mm something might be wrong. Check the manufacturer's website for more accurate numbers perhaps.Last edited by Excession; 2019-02-15 at 10:35 PM.

Some fans list their thickness as well. Noctua, for example, lists the thickness of their fans. Their 200mm fans, for example, are listed as 200x200x30 mm.
