Great Weapon Fighting + Savage Attacker.
So...
Great Weapon Fighting, a player (me!) can re-roll 1s and 2s for damage.
Now I also have Savage Attacker as Feat.
So does this mean, I would roll my Savage Attacker attacks (let's just say 2D8).
Now when I roll that 2D8, I can re-roll my 1s and 2s.
So let's say my first roll is a 1 and a 6. I re-roll my 1 and get a 5. So now I have a 5 and a 6.
Now, since it's Savage Attacker, I can re-roll that (and take the higher of the two).
So I roll for my second potential damage, and roll a 2 and 4. I re-roll the 2 and get an 8.
So now I have a 5 and 6 and a 2 and an 8. (So I'd take the 5 and 6).
I just want to make sure I am understanding that the Great Weapon (re-roll 1 and 2) works with both Savage Attacker rolls?Last edited by Tawmis; 2019-02-19 at 03:05 PM.

You got it!
Although Savage Attacker isn't worth it unless you're a monster, and then it's only okay.Last edited by Yunru; 2019-02-19 at 03:22 PM.

Re: Great Weapon Fighting + Savage Attacker.
On the next to last line, isn't the 2 in damage supposed to be 4? As you rolled 2 & 4 and rerolled the 2

Re: Great Weapon Fighting + Savage Attacker.
Hah! You are correct! :D
Our DM does "Birthday Feats" - so we have a small pool of FEATS we get as a "Bonus" for it being our (actual) birthday.
So as a Fighter, I took Savage Attacker.
I felt like it compliments the Great Weapon Fighting style (for the reasons above; re-rolling 1s and 2s, once) for damage. Then doing Savage Attacker to re-roll those dice for higher results, once again re-rolling 1s and 2s (once) for damage.Need a character origin written? Enjoyed what I wrote? How can you help me? Re: Great Weapon Fighting + Savage Attacker.
To get the most out of this combo, roll the largest die possible (d10's & d12's).

Re: Great Weapon Fighting + Savage Attacker.
Agreed, it should be a half feat.

Re: Great Weapon Fighting + Savage Attacker.
So I ran the numbers just for posterity:
1d4: +1.125
1d6: +1.4722222222231003
1d8: +1.8125
1d10: +2.15
1d12: +2.4861111111085994
2d6: +1.37191358024676
2d8: +1.845703125
3d8: +2.7531585693353993
4d8: +2.5974893569953474
5d8: +3.401296038180197
My take from all this is that Savage Attacker would be a decent feat if it weren't restricted to 1/turn.
