Re: Roland's Merciful Modly Mash-up Random Banter Thread #221
With complications that basically work out to "if you've got the sort of money to throw at insurance and could likely afford more expensive bills you're not going to get them because of insurance, if you don't welcome to bankruptcy court".
There's a reason I haven't actually been to a doctor in 8 years, and know how to set my own broken bones.I would really like to see a game made by Obryn, Kurald Galain, and Knaight from these forums.
I'm not joking one bit. I would buy the hell out of that. -- ChubbyRain

Re: Roland's Merciful Modly Mash-up Random Banter Thread #221
This terrifies me.
This could get into politics so quickly. Let's just say that the idea of moving from the NHS to a US-style system terrifies a lot of people over here.
I was at the doctor on Wednesday, and have been to them abou'st three times in the last three months, all without paying a penny at point out delivery (I do, however, pay for healthcare with every paycheck, whether I used it or not). There are things that I don't like, such as how I'll need to pay at least fifty pounds to actually upgrade my glasses to the right prescription and not get continual headaches (it's a price tag on vision!), but in general the system works out so that when I need healthcare the only thing I have to worry about is waiting lists, not costs or insurance forms.
SpoilerFor the record that's the reason that the visit last week drew a lot of ire. But this is going to get very political of I go on.
My doctor is also very adamant that I get therapy. It's like I have a history of going to him for mental health issues

Re: Roland's Merciful Modly Mash-up Random Banter Thread #221
I most definitely let out a desperate shout of "I'm drowniii-iiii-iiing" while getting out of the water, reaching me to my waist, ickly tickled by sticks fallen from the birch trees hanging over the pond.
Yeah, I have two swimming spots about 300m and 600m bird's distance, but walking takes about 10-15 minutes because you have to wiggle around the steep hill to get down. I'd die if my closest shore was 5km away. Though, well, up until I was 10 our closest lake was 10ish km away (but we still went there at least weekly) and from 10 to 14 5km away, but I spent most of my summers at my grandparents or at my godparents' summer cottage where water was right next to us. From 14 til 20, my closest beach was 500m away and the other about 1,5km... they were ok, but, well. They were city lakes. So they were somewhat dirty. So, sometimes me and my friends just biked 10km to the national park to enjoy clean water.
In the past 7 days I got to enjoy two nights of thunder joy! The first one the lightning hit somewhat close, I'd say between 2-6km. The flashes sure were bright, and kind of made it hard to fall asleep when suddenly your eyes open to the bright light. The second time was last night or the one before - it was this lovely mellow rumble in the distance, clouds fluffy and grey, air heavy added with some amazing summer rain. The air smelt so nice afterwards, with all the lush scents from the plants around me.
ION: Me and my boyfriend went exploring, and realised that from the back of my apartment starts a small but extremely lush bit of forest. It has an amazing amount of paths going all around, and we definitely didn't have time to go through it all since the rain started. Had to run home!
I think on Sunday night, or perhaps Monday, we went to a closed mining site near where I lived. I had heard about it, locals saying it has a really nice view. Well, it being very close to the lake, I thought that you could see water from there, right? Oh, NOPE! A huge fenced area, barbed wire a the top of some parts... looking down at least 40 metres. Plus the really creepy hole that definitely went down way deeper. It was astonishing, me and boyfriend were in awe. Tried to take some pics, but they really don't give credit to how deep and... just, deep and vast it was. Definitely gotta go there again. I'll try to get yous all some pics to see!

That's something that I always like around here for the random downpours in late-spring to mid-summer. There're enough plants around here that it all smells so fresh and nice when the air gets cleared by the rain.
...I still prefer to not be out in it, though, admittedly.
