Morgan Atraxis

"And you're sure this won't kill me..."

Morgan sighs and his form blurs once more as he brings himself up to full speed, charging headlong into the tornado. After all, if nothing else, he can try to Dimension Door his way out of the mess.

[Talfrey]

You hit the tornado, and the world goes white and silent.

You suddenly are consumed by a brilliance of intellect and power that you could never have imagined knowing, and then at once, there is blackness.

[Talfrey]

You open your eyes. It's still just as dark as it was before, it takes you a few minutes to adjust before you realize there is a pale white luminescent lantern hanging from the top of a hooked staff. Beneath it's light rests a cloaked figure, comfortably set amongst the rocks of the underdark, nibbiling on what appears to be a piece of jerky or something similar. The moment you start the figure turns towards you and a soothing and friendly voice with a rich accent speaks.

"A pleasure to see you awake sir Morgan. How comes the quest to kill Chrosis? A unique method to gain power, I must say. How are you feeling? I'm not sure how you knew the energy would resonate with you, but you're a fortunate individual. Most things like this require very special rules and had you not absorbed it you'd be making quite the number of will saves. OH, how rude of me, I forgot to introduce myself. I am called Bob, and you landed on my house."

[Karsh]

Morgan Atraxis

Morgan's head pounded violently as he regained consciousness. For a long time, he simply lay still, willing the feeling of having been repeatedly smacked in the brain with a psionic hammer to disappear. He scarcely dared to breathe for fear that he would fail to draw breath and awake to find himself dead and facing judgment.

It felt as though it had been an eternity since he had charged headlong into that storm... What in the Nine Hells had he been thinking? He recalled the feeling of pure and unfettered knowledge which had briefly permeated his mind, and sought to replicate the ecstasy which he had felt for that brief moment, but each time he felt like he was close to reaching it, the throbbing in his head would intensify and his focus slipped away.

Gradually the throbbing lessened, and Morgan began to manage to string thoughts together. Alecto... Can you "hear" me? Shooting pain lanced from temple to temple at the psychic transmission, and Morgan's hand shot to the side of his head. As he hears the voice of Bob and opens his eyes, Morgan realizes with horror that he is completely unarmored. He jumps up, his pale, bare feet purchasing the air an inch above the ground. Restraining himself, he listens to Bob's questions and exhales, realizing that he was not a threat; at least for the moment.

"Slower than I would have hoped. I feel alright, save for this awful pounding in my head. I would introduce myself, but it seems you already know quite a bit about me. Where did you say I was?"

[Talfrey]

A quick examination of his exposed form shows Morgan the full extend to which the corruption has consumed him. Lines, like demonic vines, coil out and about his body from his blackened right arm.

Alecto's voice does not come. Apparently she is out of range.

"That won't work. You flew far. And right now we're headed back in the direction to see if we can find your friend and sliver. I have much interest in meeting this "Chris" character. I feel I can learn a lot from him."

[Karsh]

Morgan Atraxis

"Where's my equipment? How do you know all this about me? Who exactly are you?"

[Talfrey]

"Behind you, Secret, Not telling. Now that I've answered your questions, perhaps it's best you go find your friend." A taloned hand extends and points into the darkness beyond. "He's that way."

[Karsh]

Morgan Atraxis

Morgan silently suits up in his armor and checks to make sure everything is in working order before glancing from the robed figure, to the darkness, and back.

"...fine. Coming?"

Morgan begins skating at a leisurely pace to give the throbbing in his head a chance to die down.

[Talfrey]

"Nope, take care." Bob says as you begin to walk. His campfire fades into the darkness behind you, when you suddenly detect a pair of heat signatures, and faintly hear an urgent whispering.


"Morgan? Moooorgaaan!"

[Karsh]

"I'm right here, Chris."

[Talfrey]

With a yelp he swings backwards to pummel you..

Before suddenly gasping, whispering "SORRY!" and then letting out a long sigh of relief. "I'm going to assume you have the power now?"

[Karsh]

Morgan Atraxis

Morgan easily dodges Chris' punch. "Not sure, exactly. I'm a lot more corrupted, if that's what you're asking."

[Talfrey]

"Well... I dunno... you... don't LOOK powered up. Have you tried rifting anywhere yet? Summoning anything? Flying?" Chris says perplexedly.

[Karsh]

Morgan Atraxis

"...and I'm supposed to just know how to do that?"

[Talfrey]

Chris pauses. He looks up. The he looks to his right. Then down at his feet. He scratches his head. He coughs once and kicks at the dirt.

"Yes?" is the only thing he manages.

[Karsh]

Morgan Atraxis

Morgan facepalms, holding his head with both hands. "You are definitely not helping my headache. What am I supposed to be able to do in your game? Is there some gesture or command or something?"

[Talfrey]

"No, it was more like all of a sudden you were able to point at stuff and there would be kabooms and detonations and flying and screaming and oh so much sweet victory." Chris says in a panicked rush. With a long sigh, he looks up, "I don't suppose you can fly? That would be very useful right now."

[Karsh]

Morgan Atraxis

"Just... hang on. Alecto, if you've got any suggestions, by all means."

Morgan begins concentrating, slowly forming the question in his mind.

[Talfrey]

"Congratulations! You did it! You figured it out! You know exactly how to use and control your newfound power. Your connection to this "him" fellow is complete. You are a conduit of pure untold power. Sadly... you died in the process.

No worries! I can fix this problem. That's right, you get a second chance, and with absolutely zero strings attached. Well, except mine, you know, the conduit of pure untold power. I'd suggest being careful with the power, after all, you're the second one to get themselves a direct line, and believe me when I say it's your only way of competing with the first customer.

On the plus side, deal with the first guy and you'll probably save the world.

Good luck ya freaky clown dude."

Another voice... you're outside and the wind is blowing... it's night.

"Yeah, he's been unconcious for the better part of the last day. I dunno why... his vitals are stable though. Yeah, I agree, we'll tell Koreal as soon as he gets up...."

And then the blackness returns...
