Looking for an old monster
I am trying remember a monster from an older version of the game (d&d) it was a lost/forgotten race that used a different magic system. It was like a nature based naming system in which each of the creatures had mastery over one element/thing such as water/birds/trees etc and could control a certain amount of it per round. Anyone remember the name of this monster/race?

were they good, bad, neither or all of the above?
were they humanoid (in shape, not the 3e+ term)?

The Cha'asii elves of Taladas, the other continent on Krynn, the world of Dragonlance?
Or perhaps "Pluma Magic" (IIRC) from Maztica? The Cranky Gamer
