The only thought I've had is basically stapling the secret ingredient onto a broken build that won't suffer too much for its inclusion, but that doesn't really highlight the secret ingredient.

The only insight I can give on the whole thing is that the SI can add an average of +8 to literally ANY D20 roll 1/day.

I couldn't come up with anything decent. I may judge though if it's only 3.

Unrelated note... Is it against the rules to rerun a previous ingredient? I think a lot of the good ones have already been done. Would be interesting to take a stab at one of the classics.

The hard part is Originality, since all those existing entries are already sitting out there.

Also, Iím glad youíre feeling better, Helio! I wonít have time to enter or judge for a minimum of a few more weeks, sadly.

A lot of the early competitions were well known classes. I feel like the only reason we don't run into the issue of 'well known builds already exist' is because we've run out of classes and are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I had somehow missed that a new comp was up.

Hmm, another lacklustre 1/2 caster from the Planar Handbook. Maybe they should team up with all the half casters from Dragon Compendium, to form one functional PrC?

I'm mainly focused on my Junkyard Wars build right now, but if inspiration strikes, I may submit an entry for this one, time permitting. Have to be honest though, 1/2 casters don't thrill me - there's a limited number of tricks you can use to make them worthwhile...

[edit] Just read the due date: no way I'm getting an entry in for this one... [/edit]

There are a lot of prestige classes left, yes, but I'm not sure most of them would actually represent particularly interesting Iron Chef ingredients. A lot of the classes that haven't been touched yet are bad, and bad prestige classes certainly are this competition's bread and butter, but they're also a bit boring, or they have entry requirements that are so stifling you end up with only a few small variations on builds (Initiate of Pistis Sophia comes to mind).

I don't know that I'd be super interested in seeing a rehashing of prestige classes already done on these boards, though some of the ones done on the old BG boards during the very early stages of the contest probably could do alright with a re-do.

And on a similar topic, one of the things I like about Zaq's E6 appetizer edition is how it sometimes features more powerful or well-explored classes, but places a greater focus on the Originality category to make up for it. That could be an interesting way to showcase ingredients that are typically more powerful or well-known than what you would find in Iron Chef: increase the originality score to 10 points total while keeping the other categories the same. This way people focus on finding new takes on old classics rather than submitting well-known (but effective) builds.

That could be a good idea. I suggest something special for round 100, then go back with 101 and revisit some stuff with higher originality ratings.

I know exactly what I'm doing for round 100,I've known for ages. I'm not really worried about running out of classes any time soon, I've got a Google doc with currently 17 classes in it for future comps.

While we're discussing the future, though, I have been thinking about passing the chair on to someone else again after the hundredth thread. Would anyone be up for taking over in a few months time?

So what's the consensus? Scrap this one due to lack of interest and move on to IC 99, or roll with whatever we have? We're coming onto four weeks past the deadline and it doesn't seem like folks are super invested this episode.

I mean, this class is pathetic at what it does compared to most other diviner classes. At most it's good for XP-free wishes, otherwise you're just losing power for taking levels in it. And I guess mimicking Epic spells since they're 10th level by default.

So either broken good or just bad, depending on how a DM reacts to cheese.

(I guess I spoke about possible shenanigans but at this point I doubt anyone is going to try another build)

What are people's thoughts on the legality of using this material in Iron Chef?

If they're available on the WotC website, even if they're samples of Dragon material, they should be kosher. See also, the Wyrms of the North articles.
