Default Re: Black Crusade 2E: The Argent Observatory (OOC)

Alright. Been quite a few days, and I haven't heard anything back from Janwin. Sorry about that. Amon's going on Autopilot for now.

Heidric gets two hits with the plasma pistol, knocks two magnitude off the horde. Elisanth, thanks largely to range bonus and horde size bonus, actually does get one hit with his pistol, and knocks off another two magnitude.

Amon will back up and fire his pistol: (1d100)[72] - actually a hit, again due to bonuses

That horde is now at 16 Magnitude, or lower if Amon's shot does something. EDIT: It did, Horde is Magnitude 14 now.

    It charges Elisanth.

    (1d100)[43] - hit
damage: (2d10+6)[24] - 11 wounds to the Body. I think that puts Elisanth at exactly 0 remaining.

possible instability test: (1d100)[58] - failed. Drops them to 12 Magnitude. Their ability to actually hurt the space marines is going to drop a lot as soon as they lose another 3.

Zahariel drops his Horde to Magnitude 2, thanks to Kinslayer's being a power weapon.

Sword Marshal charges in to join him. Now that there's a much smaller number of furies, she feels more confident about her chances. (1d100)[87] - failed
    (2d10+4)[19]
    (2d10+4)[9]

And finally, another few shots from the armsmen.

    (1d100)[49]
    (1d100)[92]
    (1d100)[54]
    (1d10+4)[10](1d10+4)[6](1d10+4)[10]

In the incredibly unlikely event that this doesn't successfully finish off the furies, they attack Zahariel:
    (1d100)[72]
    (1d10+6)[14]

and test instability if they need it: (1d100)[89] - they missed, and even if the Armsmen all did nothing (they didn't) Instability would finish the job. Horde down.

Right. Fate point turns that into two hits, which does 2 Magnitude of damage. Elisanth himself does another two, since he's using a power sword. Amon also does 2, thanks to the Bolt Pistol's explosive damage type. That drops the Furies to 6 Magnitude. They attack Elisanth, and some of them move forwards so they can attack Amon as well.

    v Elisanth: (1d100)[77]
    (1d10+6)[8]

    v Amon: (1d100)[52]
    (1d10+6)[13]
    - both misses, and not enough damage to do anything in either case.

and they need Instability: (1d100)[65] - failed. They lose 2 more Magnitude to Instability. Only 4 left.

Chapter breaks, like this one, are where I normally hand out XP. I would like to congratulate you all on knocking things thoroughly off the rails already. You may have 600XP, spendable immediately. If there's anything you want to do on ship, we can timesplit, and it can happen during the week it took to get here through warp. Otherwise, onwards!

Heh. I'll have to spend it tomorrow. Probably should throw everything into Fel.

Other then making time to memorise all the shuttle bays so he can get off the Doom in a hurry, Heidric is content to go in without preparing.

I've never had to do this before but I think I get to roll medicae again for Amon and Elisanth at the end of the week. If anyone else is wounded say something.

    Amon vs. Int 42
    (1d100)[17]

    Elisanth vs. Int 42
    (1d100)[28]

So, for extended care, twice the normal healing plus one point per degree of success. Assuming I haven't missed anything.

The way Extended Care works is a bit different in DH2, which is the ruleset we're predominantly using, since the whole point of this excercise is to see how well we can update the BC rules to DH2E.

Instead of once a week, you do a test every 24H. You also don't roll for each patient individually, it's just one test. The test is at +10, and you can have an extra +10 for every assistant you have who is also trained in Medicae. None of the other PCs are, but the ship has a medic, so you can have +10 for that. You're testing vs 62 - your first test earns 5 total degrees, and your second earns 4.

Elisanth lost 18 total wounds. His TB is 7. He starts out Heavily Damaged.
Amon lost 13 total. His TB is 8. He is Lightly Damaged.

Day 1, 5 degrees of success: Elisanth and Amon both double their natural healing. Assuming Amon spends the entire time resting, he recovers 16 wounds and is fully healed.
Elisanth removes 2 damage, plus 5 from degrees of success. He has still lost 11, but is now Lightly Damaged.

Day 2, 4 degrees: Elisanth doubles healing. Again assuming a full day of rest, he recovers 14 wounds, and is now fully healed.

    Space Marines heal fast.

Yeah, Amon will spend the first day just lounging around and recuperating. The less down time for an Astartes, the better.

With my XP I pick up Infused Knowledge, Forbidden Lore (The Warp), and Forbidden Lore (Inquisition). Must know ALL the things!

Going to roll against The Warp to see if Amon would have any ideas about feasible stories that could be provided with their distress call (like the fact that the Warp sometimes just disgorges a ship in a random location that they weren't intending to go).

Alright. So I think the plan is to let the Doom pull in for inspection and repairs. While that's happening, the PCs transfer to the station, either by voidwalking or otherwise?

Correct me if I'm wrong, I want to be sure of where you want to go, and how you want to get there.

All my plans are cribbed from HH books.

I assume if we just attack everyone on the station we might give the game away and the system ships come after the Doom.

So at least Amon and Elisanth need to be disguised or else find a way onto the station from outside. If we're voidwalking Heidric can go with them to Tech-Use open hatches where necessary.

Once aboard we're probably looking to disable augurs and probably communications so the station can't call for help if we get noticed.

Someone tell me if I'm missing something obvious.

Voidwalking might be the best option. But even if we get on the station, we then have to hide on the station. Which is easier said than done for superhumans in gigantic hulking power armor suits.

It's impossible to conceal our Chapters, too. Particularly for Amon. So, yeah. Don't see that we have much choice except to try.

Well, you've got a meltabomb. Unfortunately the exterior devices are a little too large, and with a few too many redundant dishes and things, to be inconvenienced much by a single meltabomb. No Artosis Pylons here. You can use it to get through the hull though, once you've picked a spot.

If you want to get close to the command center without being seen, you need to roll Stealth.

Looks like we have three distinct plans here.

1: Get inside, find a way to knock out the augurs
2: Blow a window on the command center, kill everyone inside
3: Zahariel demands transit to the surface

Which do you want to go with?

Heidric is not wedded to anything and will absolutely play it by ear, so I am ok with anyone making a decision if we want to be more organised.

Can we board any shuttle from outside? Then it's only really a matter of killing any human crew and then riding the shuttle down to wherever on the surface. Presumably we can open the airlock from the outside once it gets going.

Just come back afterwards and get on board.

This plan hit me while replaying Space Marine. Space Marines are literally angels to the common man. They grow up hearing legends about them. It's to the point where a Guardsman in-game is happy dying because he got to see a Space Marine before he died. So if a Space Marine (especially one from the original, more famous, chapters) wants to go somewhere, is a random Navy officer really going to try to stop him?
