Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
Nothing like spitting death threats to end a debate with a touch of civility, eh?
I just found the Darth & Droids comic, it's wonderful. And I just read the entire DM of the Rings archive last night, which I'm seriously regretting this morning.
(There. Happy now, TP?)

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
Ditto you now must go to Lich king vs Sauron. It will probably pass this one in number of pages... I admit that would be funny seing you arguing for Sauron in a thread.

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
I've no problem at all arguing for Sauron or against Voldemort (I sided against him in the vs. Xykon thread, actually), but I don't know a thing about the Lich-King.

Also ditto, WG doesn't know anything about the LK before going on that thread and he is doing fine
most vs. threads just get closed, often with me having the last post

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
Fair enough, but I still don't really have the interest. I'm not about to go running off to different threads defending Sauron for kicks. It's not entirely a question of being 'unqualified' to argue against an unknown combatant - I duck in because the fight itself interests me. I might pop over at some point... Rowan, you're doing that thing about the Ring again. "The Ring can be used to overthrow Sauron, but its weilder will become a new Dark Lord" *isn't* a victory? I'd say 'overthrow Sauron' is a sufficient victory condition.
But that's for the other thread to decide!

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
Great, now this thread is becoming the discussion thread of the LK v S thread.
EE, if anyone else gets handed a win in this thread it has to be our Dark Lord Sauron first. I wouldn't accept the title of co-winner until Sauron was also declared a winner.
Besides, not one said anything as funny as WG (also no one said what I was trying to say only better, but WG).
And now, of to the LK v S thread to use arguments that seem to only be countered with semantics.

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
Oddly enough, you need only check your sanity for the 'serious' vs. threads. Batman vs. Bun-Bun, or (much worse) that Pun-Pun vs. God Almighty, require much less thought and allow your conscious mind to do other, more useful things. You can read at the same time without causing any damage to the important parts of your brain from devoting too much processing power to fictional cage matches.
No fair putting an asterisk on WG's win, Rowan. Sauron and Voldemort are both non-winners, tough noogies. Sean Connery said something about losers and whining, didn't he? I think the point was that WG gets the girl in the end.

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
Yeah, that was my point.
WG wins in a match between Sauron and Voldy.
He gets the girl, and I get the cookies.
Also, by referencing Sean Connery you just went up a million points in my book (the Rowanomicon has a point system to measure what level of hell you go to when you die... there is no heaven).

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
Remembering that quote made me read though the entire Quotes page for The Rock on IMDb, and now I really want to get the DVD for Christmas.
A million points? Sweet!
...say, do I *want* those points? Do you trade up for the occasional ice water in hell, or does the million-point level get me frozen in ice and sodomized by spiky tentacle demons? I can never remember which way Dante considered 'good'.
My physics teacher would give out brownie points for brilliant work or clever comments. 100 points could be redeemed for an A at the end of the year. Unfortunately, he took points away in increments of 100,000. No one got that prize...

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
More points is good.
It gives you a higher rank.
You still get subjected to crap by those above you (me, Sauron, WG, EE, etc), but you get to order around and screw with those below you (random orcs, etc).
I can explain (read: make up on the spot) the religion to you further if you wish.

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
We have a whole system going, WG is the founder and commander, Rowan is the prophit, i am the wit of Sauron (i also fill in as his middle finger when he wants to make a statement), and Sauron is the overlord when he isn't playing WOW
Ditto and I am undead are worthy rivals and walking target is the all powerful dude with the books

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
Sauron v Voldemort
well lets think about it for a second,
Sauron was defeated the first time by losing his contact with a shiny gold ring and was finished off by the efforts of two midgets with hairy feet.
Voldemort (apparantly the most power wizard ever) was defeated the first time by a baby and the second time by a young wizard with massively inferior abilities to him.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm
They would both fall over and break their skulls on rocks.

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
Blood-red were his spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat,
When they shot him down on the highway,
Down like a dog on the highway,And he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat.

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
For some reason, as soon as I read this I thought "Just like Darth Vadar!"
This is somewhat the case, and somewhat not. Whether or not believe in God, religion is a human construct, and was at some point made up on the spot.
However, there's been a good couple hundred years, thousands for most, of editing with every major religion in the world today.

Re: Sauron vs Voldemort
I double as both, i wanted to go out to meet aragorn at the black gate, but I was told that hte plot needed a more dramatic herald
If i had been there
Aragorn-let the lord of the black lands come forth
Me- My master sauron the great bids you welcome. I have a message i was told to show thee
**** you, git
Me-That is all
(goes back inside and we shut the gate)
