This, more than anything, is an argument for learning to train treehoppers as mounts the next time you get a Skill Trait. Treehoppers could make the journey in 2 turns, or maybe even a single turn.

Dave will sneakily (not really) learn as much as he can from what is being taught.

Quick question- why are we researching this awesome life power?

Also- I'd recommend being careful with this vine- we don't want a parasitic vine killing our lovely tree.

I am so sorry - I have done more research, and it turns out Heliconia is not a vine at all. It is a shrub, and the signature flowers hang from its own branches. I was under the impression that it was a vine, and that the flowers hung from the branches of trees that it grew up. I'll correct this for future turns - and Eternis, now you don't have to worry.

    - Research. Power. With the power of the Swarm.
    - Research Skills
    - Research AWESOME LIFE POWER. Especially in the area of turning our treehopper training group into an elite cavalry squad with a magical/symbiotic link to their mounts. The golden hoard will take over the world!.
    - Expand Food Stores.

Ant-Eye will try to learn to use his control over life to end those of others from a distance (Power Word Kill for ants!.)

Turn 13: Yes, There Is Another Colony Out There

    Actions
    -Research Power (Swarm)
    -Research Skill
    -Research Life powers
    -Expand food storage

JoJoAnt teaches Untiring to Antimony, Zektak, and Dave, and in return Antimony teaches him how to fly.

Antitan shapes his own chitin into large, sharp spikes, which he moves to his forelimbs to be used as weapons, increasing his own Offense. He then works on altering the Myrmidons to have something similar.

Fiona figures out which way she came from, and walks back to the second stream, then sets out going back to the colony.

Antigone and the Klaffese ants finally arrive back at Vannethia! Several introductions and explanations later, the rest of the hive now knows that Klaffet exists. Afterwards, Antigone asks about leaders or heroes, and discovers that Klaffet does have heroes in their hive - four of them, in fact.

Ant-Eye tries and fails to kill ants with his magic. This might be related to the fact that he doesnít actually know what makes an ant live.

Theoanta doesnít figure out any better healing than what the colony already has.

    Research Power (Swarm)
    Failure

    Research Skill
    Success! Skill +4

    Research Life powers
With the new, massive amount of Life power moving through the colony, the ants develop a Regeneration ability. Any ant in the colony is now able to recover from any non-lethal injury, whether it is a scar on a leg or the loss of half of your abdomen. Unfortunately, regenerating takes a few turns, and you need to eat more food for it, so more healing magic might still be useful.

    Expand food storage
You now have room for 35 food.

The Food Force brings in the 4 food from the garden, and discovers a large piece of decaying wood full of grubs, providing 12 more food. Even with the expansion, however, the hiveís storage cannot hold it all, and 5 food is left behind.

The Treehopper Feeding Force brings the hoppers outside to eat. Presumably, the eggs will hatch in a few turns.

The Power Research Force does not have any success this turn.

    Life (greater) power trait gained.
    4 Food consumed
    +2 Size from Growth

Antimony tries to learn Heal Self. If any of the hero ants who already know it want to teach her, she's happy to spend her action doing whatever they suggest in exchange (that doesn't involve leaving the colony obviously).

Antitan puts the Myrmidons on extra guard rotation around the queen's chamber, just in case the Klaffese ants turn out to be hostile. He'll then offer to give the Klaffese a tour of the Hive, in an effort to get to know them better.
If time permits, he'll also try to get a private conversation with Antigone, asking her for threat assessment of Klaffet.

Wait, what? Dave is teaching Untiring this turn. Did no one notice that?

On another note, the update is almost done. I just have to write Antitan's interaction with the Klaffese ants, and resolve the above confusion. (The other thing is now written.)

I'm going to assume that Antigone learns Untiring this round (because it is, in fact, available) unless kinglinus1 notifies me otherwise.

    Turn 14: So Much Food

    Actions
    -Research Skill
    -Expand food storage
    -Expand your garden plot
    -Create experiment space

Ant-Eye cannot contact the mind of a treehopper. There is a reason Mind magic is its own category.

Dave teaches Untiring to Antigone and Theoanta, and Zektak teaches Heal Self to Antimony. Zektak doesnít manage to grow wings in the remaining part of the turn.

JoJoAnt spends the turn developing and practicing aerial combat, and can now use his attacking abilities in the air just as well as on the ground.

Fiona arrives back at the intersection of the streams. She notices some other ants walking past a nearby tree, but they do not notice her.

Antitan takes the Klaffese ants on a tour of the hive. They are impressed by your gardening skills and trap plants, and amazed at the fact that you have treehoppers living in your colony. He also learns about what Klaffet is like, from the ants and also from Antigone, and puts together an analysis of it.
Klaffese soldiers are stronger than your own, and the hive is younger but faster-growing, They should be about the same size right now, but Klaffet will soon be the larger of the two by quite a lot. However, you have more defenses in place, and Klaffet has fewer heroes than you do - 4 to 9.

    Research Skill
    Success, Skill +2
(You have 26/27 Skill Research right now. Seriously.)

    Expand food storage
You now have room for 50 food!

    Expand your garden plot
You designate more space to grow things, and plant more food plants, meaning that (starting next turn) you will get twice as much food per turn. In addition, the Heliconia plant is fully grown and flowering.
(Wow, Life power gives you kind of a ridiculous amount of food. Upping your Growth might be useful, as a way to put all this food to use.)

    Create experiment space
You dig a new tunnel, leading far enough from the rest of the hive that problems there wonít affect it. You now have a safe space for experiments.

The Food Force brings in the 4 food from the garden and the 5 food left from last turn, but does not find any more food.

The Treehopper Feeding Force brings the hoppers outside to eat. As they do so, the eggs in the plants start to hatch, and the baby treehoppers emerge. You now have 1 more size of treehopper nymphs.

The Power Research Force gives you +4 Power.

    4 Food consumed

If a treehopper dies, Dave will spend his turn dissecting it to figure out its gastrointestinal and liquid-producing secrets. Otherwise, he's going to learn whatever he can learn and teach whatever anyone wants to learn that he knows, with priority going to alphabetical order.

If no treehoppers die and no-one else wants to learn or teach anything, Dave is going to spend his turn trying to work on the Food Force's physiology to improve their harvesting ability (better grabs, sharper cuts, that kind of thing).

@Xihirli Or you could follow them back to their hive.
Why doesn't Dave make a body instead of waiting for one?

When faced with ones enemies I prefer subtlety to conflict, at least in the beginning.

Antigone is going to take some food with him back to Klafette, enough to have a feast with the heros of klafette and talk about potentially setting up trade between the two hives.

Edit: I believe I should be able to to get there if one turn, if my math is correct.

Whether loved or hated, all characters die. A minority opinion holds that the righteous ones are really just Put on a Bus until the head writer's son gets back from his coffee break.

Thank you Honest Tiefling for this Rocking Avatar, Man I like that Tiefling.
