Antitan will work with Theoanta to restrain the centipede. If time permits, he will already try to use mind powers to probe the centipede's mind.

Theoanta and Antitan grow some plant restraints for the centipede. You now have a centipede as, effectively, a prisoner. Antitan tries to contact its thoughts, but due to your low Mind power he doesn’t get much farther than finding out that it does, in fact, have thoughts.

Zektak, Lanti, and Dave attempt to connect their minds to those of nearby plants, but it seems like they don’t have any. Zektak shows the other two how to connect to the Great Tree, but applying that to other plants just doesn’t seem to work. It might just be that the Great Tree is a special case.

JoJoAnt perfects his new secret technique.

Fiona’s actions are described below, under the related hive action.

Antimony works on her secret project.

    Success, Skill +3

Make a gift basket for Klaffet
You put together a basket from leaves and fill it with food, including some of the treehoppers’ honeydew. Fiona picks it up and starts traveling with it to Klaffet.
Fiona doesn’t get very far before her journey is interrupted. As she reaches the top of a root, she looks down and sees a massive force of Klaffese soldiers, marching across the jungle floor. It’s obvious that they have been looking for Vannethia - and may have picked up on some pheromones. At the head of the army are the two remaining Klaffese heroes.
Fiona freezes in surprise. She thinks about running away and hiding, but decides against it immediately. She needs to talk them out of this, for the good of the hive. Both hives.
    “HEY!”
The Klaffese ants look up at you. One of the heroes says:
“Oh, a Vannethian. What do you want? Are you here to surrender?”
    “I’m here to make peace.”
“Is that a basket of food? Were you really going to try the same trick as last time?”
“It’s not a trick this time, I promise! I swear this food isn’t poisoned. Antigone went against the rest of Vannethia by killing your other heroes!”
    “So she’s a traitor?”
“Well… yes. We haven’t really worked this out yet, we only heard about this whole situation last turn, but there was a vague plan to turn her over to you.”
The Klaffese hero pauses for a second, then climbs up the root to parley. Fiona takes some honeydew out of the basket, drinks sone to show that it really isn’t poisoned, and offers some to the hero.
“I’d like to talk with your hive about peace terms. I’m Rhoesh, by the way.”
    “Fiona”

Expand small features of living things for study
Critical success! You “zoom in” a piece of a plant leaf to study it, followed by a piece of flesh from an ant.
Both appear to be made of small pieces that you call “cells”, which appear to be the fundamental unit of life. Cells seem to range in size from “technically visible normally” to “surprising you noticed it even at this scale” and come in a huge variety of shapes. In addition, cells have smaller features themselves, including a prominent thing in the center that looks like a smaller cell.
You also notice some fundamental differences between plant cells and animal cells, mainly that plant cells have a wall around them and animal cells don’t.

    Start recording your history
You dig out a Records Tunnel to hold your history, and begin writing it down on leaves. You make it as far as a general record of events from the founding of the hive until now, and a detailed record of the first 5 turns.

The Food Force brings in the food from the garden. The food storage won’t hold any more than that.

The Treehopper Feeding Force brings the hoppers outside to eat.

The Power Research Force doesn’t give you any power this turn.

The Skill Research Force has great success, yielding +9 Skill.

    JoJoAnt grows forelimb spikes.

Antimony works on her secret project.

Zektak tries to manipulate a plant on the cellular level. He realizes he has no idea what he’s doing, and his control of his Life power kind of breaks down at this scale. Higher-level Life powers would be useful here.

Lanti connects to the Great Tree like Zektak showed them, and after xe gets used to how weird it feels xe tries to communicate with the tree. Xe can feel a consciousness there, Zektak was right about that, but it doesn’t seem like it can communicate or really do anything, like it’s asleep. Higher-level Mind powers would likely be necessary to awaken it.

Theoanta takes a group of ants to found an outpost at the Mossy Tree, giving easy access to the stream. They also dig a tunnel for easy transit between the outpost and the main colony.

    Antitan keeps guard over Antigone.

Fiona’s actions are described below under the Peace Talks.

    Peace Talks
Fiona and Rhoesh talk it over and come up with the terms of peace between Vannethia and Klaffet:
-Vannethian ants are forbidden from attacking Klaffese ants, and vice versa.
-The punishment for this will be decided by the victim’s hive. Therefore, Antigone will be taken to Klaffet, bound in plant restraints.
-To prevent further misunderstandings of this nature, messengers will be set up between the two hives. The messengers will be mounted on treehoppers, as they are easily the fastest available method of transport. This system will be implemented as soon as Vannethia trains the treehoppers.

Compare ant, treehopper, and centipede cells
They all look pretty much the same at the cellular level, except for one thing. When you look at the center (“nucleus”) of the cell, each type has a differing amount of little streaks in it. You aren’t sure what those are.

    Spoiler: Power Traits
    Show

Life, final- The last level in your Life abilities, the utility of this over your current level of Life power is limited by your knowledge of biology - but the potential here is massive.

Fire- Control of the flames. I would not recommend this, seeing as any mistake would set the undergrowth in flames.

Lightning- A strange energy. You would probably need either higher Skill or quite a lot of experimentation to figure out how to use this effectively.

Cold- The opposite of Fire. No one in this jungle, yourselves included, have ever experienced this sort of thing. (It's a jungle, so it's in the tropics.)

Earth- Control of the ground and its materials. May be useful for colony construction, but you can do that with just antpower.

LOCKED- You need a Skill Trait for this.

Creation- The use of magic to make things and put them together, Probably useful to save a lot of time.

Air- Control of the atmosphere and the winds. Likely is able to synergize with most other magic.

Sound- An odd ability that doesn't seem very antlike, but that might just mean that no one expects it.

Motion- Control over the movement of objects. Can help you with science, but also requires quite a lot of knowledge to develop beyond the basics.

Water- Control of the streams, lakes, rivers, and any other water you may find. Also the rain, which is nice because this is a rainforest.

Sense- Abilities relating to the senses. Both illusions and the opposite are part of this.

Void- Possibly the strangest power of all, this is the power of nothingness. You honestly don't know what this could do.

LOCKED- You need higher skill to even think about this.

Mind, moderate- The next level in your Mind abilities gives you much more conscious control over what you do with your minds.

Arcane- Abilities relating to pure, unchanged magic. Probably also helps with learning other abilities.

JoJoAnt attempts to use the life power trait to make a passive healing ability! Doesn't have to be as powerful as the ones we have, just passive

Also @sniccups you forgot to add to the secret technique that it has already been perfected :P

    Cool. 😎
Fiona will go to the river and jump over it. Either she’ll fly or have an adventure.

Oh, and whatever other people say is probably fine.

You never actually learned how to fly. You grew wings, but it takes another turn to learn to use them.

It's been shown that you need Sense magic for this sort of thing.
