Default Hoping for an OOTS GoT parody at some point

GoT seems to have stolen S8 Battle of Winterfell from OOTS Wars and XP (but with fewer main character deaths) so when we get another set of parody tales (perhaps between books), would be great to see OOTS take on GoT.

    Belkar — Arya
Elan - Jon (riding a pterosaur, problematic dad)
    Haley - Sansa
    Roy - Hound
Durkon - Beric (back from dead)
    Varsuvius - Melisandre

    Linear guild:
    Nale - Dany
    Sabine - Tyrion
    Thog - Jorah

    Xykon - Night King
Red Cloak - Bran (the hidden end boss)

It could never top Greenhilt, Prince of Denmark.

In a Blood Runs In The Family bonus strip:

    Spoiler
    Show
We see "Jon Slush" and his pet direwolf

I think that's the most GoT referencing we're likely to see. The Parody Tales are always fairly old stuff - Shakespeare plays, Little Red Riding Hood, early James Bond.

    Jim Slush. Not Jon.

Other than that, yes, I agree. Given that Rich hasn't read the GoT books, it's pretty much guaranteed that he'll only parody what he has been unable to avoid learning about through cultural osmosis.

Maybe people should use spoiler tags for those GoT spoilers?

You are talking about events of the last Season, currently being aired. So you can bet there are.

There is at least one pretty big spoiler, actually. Just because you don't state something outright that doesn't mean people who have read the books/watched the show can't get what you're alluding to even if they're not up to date with the show.

If you're that concerned about spoilers it's probably a good idea to avoid threads that explicitly mention GoT in the thread title.

Actually finishing a seven-book series of fantasy novels is a better dig at ASOIAF than any in-strip parody could be.

Let's hope that Rich lives at least that long. And he almost has book VI done on line, I suspect that book VI is finished in terms of "writing" and what he's doing now is finishing touches.

You mean George, right? Since Rich's book VI is clearly mostly drawn already.

    You win this thread.

As for the subject, Rich has said that he has no interest in Martin's work, so this seems unlikely. That said, I could see

    Spoiler
    Show
Tarquin as Cersei angrily trying to make the heroes pay attention to him and hijack the plot with him as the main villain of the entire story, when everyone instead focuses on the true threat of Xykon as the Night King.

Well, we've already gotten one parody, with the Starbucks Coffee cup... ;)

Greywolf is basically Jon Snow, and Oona is Ygritte.

No I'm not. By which I mean: hopefully you meant Greyview. Also: he's a warg, not a wolf.

    This post is beautiful.

Given the Giant's comments on how there will be seven books even if the last approaches a phonebook in size, it would also be funny if we get an ASoIaF-sized book for the final installment.
