    "Oh", Jokado simply says.

"Well, piracy is a crime of course. But servitude beyond death is dis-pro-portionate punishment. You have been wronged by your captain, that villain, and I shall set forth to redress your grievance and punish him for his unnatural ways".

He turns to the rest of the party. "No-one will blame you if any of you are too .....chicken..... to follow me into the cursed lighthouse".

"Well might as well." Momoku sighs with Anaguma standing close by. "Isn't like there is gonna be much else to do around here." One thing she didn't want to bring up just yet was that there apparently was another person nearby, and the fact that they likely just killed billy... Which means that they were likely to have to fight a ghost goat gobbler.

By general consent, the party starts heading towards the lighthouse.

You soon come to large whilte sign with black block letters.

    WARNING: CURSED LIGHTHOUSE AHEAD
    CURSED LIGHT HOUSE IS CURSED
PEOPLE APPROACHING THE CURSED LIGHTHOUSE HAVE BEEN KILLED OR HAVE NEVER BEEN SEEN AGAIN.

DO NOT APPROACH THE CURSED LIGHTHOUSE
    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

next to the white sign is a smaller green sign with white letters.

    NOTICE AND WARNING.
BEYOND THIS SIGN IS THE AQUATIC OWLBEAR BREEDING AREA.
    AQUATIC OWLBEARS ARE HIGHLY AGGRESSIVE.
    AQUATIC OWLBEARS KILL PEOPLE.
AQUATIC OWLBEARS ARE MUCH FASTER THAN THEY LOOK.
IF YOU CAN SEE AN AQUATIC OWLBEAR YOU ARE TOO CLOSE.
AQUATIC OWLBEARS CAN'T READ AND WILL CROSS THE BOUNDARY MARKER.
aQUATIC OWLBEARS ARE A PROTECTED SPECIES.
FINE FOR KILLING, HARMING, HARASSING, FEEDING, OR BEING EATEN BY THE AQUATIC OWLBEARS IS 1000 GP AND OR 10 YEARS HARD LABOR.
SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAMS DO NOT ENTER THE OWLBEAR PRESERVE.

A line of white stones spaced about 3 ft apart is about a yard past the signs.

Tori reads the sign as well. "1000 gold or 10 years hard labor? For getting eaten by one of those blasted beasts? That is ridiculous.....no idea how we can avoid them though.....Well, the sign doesn't say the charges stack, so if we run into a problem and have to hurt an owlbear, we shouldn't have to worry after that."

You awaken disoriented. The world seems grey. You are on the floor of a room that is too small for the party and you are all jumbled up. Intermixed even.

The sword is selected before touching the wall. The exterior doors cannot be touched.

The room is a quarter circle pie wedge. The curving exterior wall being the bottom left of a quarter circle. There are 3 other exits. One door on each of the two interior walls and a spiral staircase in the center of the building.

"Gahh, I'm scrambled," says Tam. "Remind me not to drink ... wait, I didn't drink anything, did I." Miss Chief shakes her head no.

The draco-monkey-man hums a little ditty and focuses on the blue energy he 'wears', causing it to darken in some spots and brighten in others. Then he tests the result, trying to touch the walls, small objects, Miss Chief, himself. During this rather odd-looking maneuvering, he comments to his protege, "See, this is why you still have to treat me like a teacher rather than a rather feeble-minded student. You can learn from how I prepare. And when you're a little better using these tools yourself, you can learn how I fix it when I'm not prepared." The nezumi looks properly humbled and forgoes her usual acerbic commentary.

    Spoiler: mechanics
    Show
As described in a post early in this game-day, Tam is using the meld that lets him reroll incorporeal miss chance (and deal bonus damage to incorporeal creatures). Not exactly Ghost Touch proper. Does it work at all for touching things or people?

Also, does Scent work here? I'd assume so, because lack of corporeal eyes and ears doesn't stop creatures from seeing and hearing -- but it's not my call to make.

Apparently having tested his new reality enough, Tam suggests to the group, "The phrase 'it's all uphill from here' might fit. Do we want to go up that staircase?"

It takes a while to get the tangle sorted out. Some of the ghost touch points are on the inside f people's "lines". Some selected selective activation lets Tam and Miss separate them selves, and you all learn that your new forms can squeeze and flow a bit, and you can choose to touch or pass through each other.

Is anyone heading for a door or the stairs? Which only go up.
