Tam and his ratling guard the party's back as Jokado strides toward discovery.

The door to the next room can be touched and is easily opened, but the room beyond is grey and indistinct.

As Jakodo steps both he and the room snaps into color and focus. His body is 'normal' again. (the same applies to anyone else stepping into the room.)

This once comfortable room appears to have
fallen into disrepair. Fine chairs and small
stands have decayed over the years into piles
of stuffing and rotting wood.
It is very cold in here, and it appears the shadows
on the walls are mocking you.

Mocking as in actually laughing at your haircuts.

The room is well lit, but you don't see a light source.

The shadows in the upper corners start drifting towards you, seemingly with malicious intent.

Jakado has to move up to strike, so only gets one swing. Between that and the Positive Energy channel the 1st shadow is destroyed.

Venus's non-magical swords pass right though them. (unless she has a magic effect on them, then there is a 50% miss chance)

Tam will probably destroy the other one as he has ghost touch effects up. It is ac 13 with less than 15 hp remaining.

Muchiyoki and her horse, after crashing the magic carpet into a roc and then a tree, find themselves pursued by a pack of about 20 aquatic owlbears.

These spiny abominations are a collage of the features of owlbears, koala, playterpus, and echidna. Their screeching howl and roaring hoots are bonechilling.


They race for the shelter of a nearby lighthouse. As they appoach safety, the lighthouse EATS them ....

They awake to find themselves in the room described a few posts above.

It sounds like damage rolls are gonna be pretty much irrelevant here. Particularly since I can get another +2 damage against incorporeal with each hit.

Miss Chief can get one attack in, with an acid-tastic magical claw: (d20+6)[19], incorporeal miss chance 50% (miss on a 1): (d2)[1]

Tam can presumably manage a full attack either by charging or by starting 5' or less away. Double-rolling the miss chance makes it 1 in 4.

You see a going in a pile of debris. It is a silver longsword with a jewel studded hilt.

There is one additional door in the room. (I'm on airport WiFi so connection is spotty)

"Eyes. Really.", he mutters to himself.

Crossing the threshold, the room resolves.

It is a dining room. In the center are two desiccated figures with tightly drawn skin seated at a formaly set table with candalabras. They have knives and forks and are dining on two human bodies.

Behind the table, floating in the air is an accordion being played by a floating, dimly glowing indistinct figure. It seems to be muttering out of sync with the music.

Both of the paladins shake off some momentary confusion, but find themselves dancing!
