best systen for zombie survival games
ok I this is more of a question that I was asked by a friend of mine how is planning on doing a zombie horror type of game what is the best system for zombie horror games. I know that D20 Modern has a book covering that type with stats but I was wondering if there is other options. If so what are they and how good they are ?

Re: best systen for zombie survival games
What do you want in your zombie survival game?
Modern era? D&D-type setting? Ancient Mesopotamia?
What's the main conflict? Man v. Zombie? Man v. Man? Man v. Environment? The Cranky Gamer
*It isn't realism, it's verisimilitude; the appearance of truth within the framework of the game.
*Picard management tip: Debate honestly. The goal is to arrive at the truth, not at your preconception.
*Mutant Dawn for Savage Worlds!
*The One Deck Engine: Gaming on a budget

Re: best systen for zombie survival games
Zombie Squad is a fun, but definitely not as crunchy as most, game.
And it's free, check it out here: http://paratime.ca/zombie/
Good luck and let us know what your friend chooses! :)

Re: best systen for zombie survival games
Post apocalypse or middle of the zombie outbreak? If post apocalypse, Red Markets might be far and away the absolute best “crapsack world because of zombies” game ever made

Re: best systen for zombie survival games
Outbreak: Undead has potential, but there are a few rules snafus you'd probably want to work through before the game started. Apparently there's a 2nd Edition of it that I haven't looked at yet, but the 1Ed stuff is playable and has some interesting crunchy bits to it.

Re: best systen for zombie survival games
Don't do it in D&D 5e, god that campaign sucked.
Savage Worlds would be good for it. The Horror Companion has good material for variant Zombies if that is what you are looking for.
I guess you are probably more interesting in a Zombie Survival setting for Savage Worlds if you are looking for "the best game" which this hasn't been an interest of mine since our 5e zombie campaign so I have no particular settings to recommend.Last edited by Rhedyn; 2019-08-14 at 02:09 PM.

I recommend Rotworld, from Goblinoid Games, It uses the Action Table mechanics from 1st Edition Chill. Solid game, fun mechanics.
