Unauthorized Ending to Harry Potter and the Natural 20
There is an unauthorized ending to Harry Potter and the Natural 20, currently up on fanfiction.net - It is already complete, and a peach of a read. I love it, and since all of Sir Poley's previous sections of that work have their own threads here, and seeing as how it seems the original is frozen in limbo, I thought this deserved a mention.

So it's fan fiction of a fan fiction? I'll pass.

You might be amazed at how good some fanfic^2s can be. Ship of Fools, for instance, is a fanfic of Taylor Varga (as well as a ton of other crossovers between various comic and TV properties), and it's amazing.

Does it share Taylor Varga's many, many flaws? The atrocious pacing, the terrible characterization and lack of distinct voices or personalities, the shoehorned plot that still can't move any faster than Brexit negotiations?
I'm willing to believe that fanfic of a fanfic can be good. I just want to know if this is better than Taylor Varga before I give it a try.

It doesn't do those things you mentioned, no.
I do admit that Taylor Varga could definitely use work on those things, though I find it amusing and interesting anyway, since I read fast enough to speed the effective pacing up considerably, and while the characters might be a bit samey, they're an entertaining samey, so that's not as bad as it could be.
Ship of Fools is most definitely faster paced, though. A lot gets done in a lot less time (and that's good, since there's a lot to do). And since it's a crossover 'fic, it uses pre-established characters, which are easier to differentiate.Last edited by MaxiDuRaritry; 2019-06-04 at 10:18 AM.

Binge read it. It's not bad at all, it's certainly up to the original one in terms of goofiness and hilarity-generating moments
VC XV, The horsemen are drawing nearer: The Alien and the Omen (part 1 and part 2).
VC XVI, Burn baby burn:Nero
VC XVIII, This is Heresy! Torquemada
VC XX, Elder Evil: Henry Bowyer
And a repository of deliciously absurd sentences produced by maddened optimisers in my extended signature
