Gustav Ferehorn will speak in red!

I asked something about a monstrosity that was ravaging the countryside to put an end to,do I have a lead on that?

Oh neat, people do use colored speech on this site as well. That'll do nicely if I ever play a kenku, I can cobble together the colors from whomever he's borrowing words from.

For Brick a dark orange seems appropriate. I could go for fire brick too, but I figure this differentiates from Gustav better.

As for the lead via the note my background said I'd have, if the GM has ideas I'm open to them- if you want me to come up with something more specific to what it's regarding I can try and work something out, but I figure we're looking into some strange phenomenon or mystery local enough to travel to and investigate during the span of this.

As for a more specific breakdown of languages, besides common: Gustav and Brick speak Elven. Yansr and Brick speak draconic and gnomish. I don't see languages listed for Durgen so I'm presuming he just speaks dwarvish (which Brick also does) for the moment. And then giant, thieves cant, and sylven only a single party member knows each. So for the most coverage, elvish, dwarvish, draconic, or gnomish would each get you two party members. And yes, Brick speaks six languages.

    "Durgen will speak in Olive"

Also, in addition to Common and Dwarvish, he also speaks Primordial. This being the language of his magic. (And using the Dwarvish alphabet.)

I'm not too worried about the balance, I might pick something that seems fitting for the character to have picked up to you. For Brick I tried to imagine what languages he'd be most likely to have run across in general arcane tomes and books in a university library, and went with those. If you have a language we don't have it could come up and be neat at some point- if it's one that one of us does have, it gives the party a potential way to communicate privately if there's someone else around who doesn't share the language, which could also potentially be useful. So I'd just stick with what suits her to you.

Edit: It occurs to me that if I changed gnomish to goblin, Brick would share one non-common language with each member of the party, whom no one else did, and we could do those private discussions as drawn out games of telephone where everytime someone says something he translates it into three other languages.

I don't know why that idea amuses me so much.

So... I presume we can take that as a cue that we've moved to a generic bar and continue from there?

Probably posting in a bit, it's a dead morning here. I can always delete it later if that's an issue.

While I'm at it, might as well roll history and see what Brick might know about the Ferehorns, though I've already got words enough for this post. Or anything he can recognize about Durgen, via clan name or if he's wearing any uniform or heraldry that might place him as a former member of a city guard. I imagine that's at player discretion since they're PCs what is shared for it if anything, but feels right to do for him. You can pass, or use it as an excuse to divulge more world building or lore on your character for fun, unless the DM has ideas he wants to put forth regarding either instead.

I'm rather enjoying subverting the stereotypes about rogues with him.

History rolls, for Gustav and Durgen respectively.

(I havenít checked this past Ribble but these were the ideas I had.
    Spoiler: DC 10
    Show

The Ferehorns are one of the areaís minor noble houses. They own mostly rural lands and make most of thier money off of the timber trade between will maintained woodlands and the interior cities of the realm.
    Spoiler: DC15
    Show

The Ferehorns hold two significant landed area with accompanying titles, the Barony of Oakenbridge, a wild woodland close to the nationís border and the Estate at Atenbury, a smaller but more ideally placed estate with more revenues. This means that the head of the house has the rank of Lords putting them amongst the landed gentry without being true aristocrats.

    Spoiler: DC 20
    Show

The Ferehorns have over time produced several minor figures in the history of LederfutĎs realm. The most famous are Richard Ferehorn a hunter and mercenary leader, and his grandson Albert a trader and administrator. They say each child takes after one of these.

Side note, the leader of the realm is a baron, but weíre being promised a lordship even though historically a Baron was only landed gentry putting them beneath the Lords who held the lowest rank of aristocracy. Iím assuming that these titles will just work differently in this fantasy world?

From what i can tell that depends on where and when you are in Europe. He ain't the king btw, but being a quasi-immortal demigod has it's own implications.

I think the point is that we're introducing ourselves and our characters a bit. Including to one another. Maybe come up with a game-plan ourselves rather than leave it all up to the all knowing GM.

Like to see if I have any information that might help inform response on this, regarding any of the three parties mentioned here: Krulek, the Grey Patriots, and/or the dragon worshipers in question.

Rolling one history check for it, if it needs to be a different kind of roll or multiple, let me know.

Not ****ing bad. Letting you off this time, but on the next please do different rolls for unconnected groups.

The rumor is that Krulek was framed for sedition, after investigating someone he shouldn't have (Lord Dech) when he was part of the Watch in Phlan.

Dragon cultists in this area have often served Tiamat, trying to claim magical blessings.
