Re: Star Power 7: Bad Luck for the Starstruck!
Its too bad, though funny, that we never got the payoff to the old tom storyline where he might have to kill her, or any information on creating more starpower types. So its kind of a sword of damocles floating over her head.

I would indeed have expected the final page to show some more sentinels, maybe as a future shot.

Re: Star Power 7: Bad Luck for the Starstruck!
Time to sum it all up.
Guess I should do it in small chunks, so let's start with character development.
You are probably thinking "but random11, other than Burke and MAYBE partially Grex, there was no character development, in fact there was hardly any character at all!"
Oh how wrong you are hypothetical reader...
For example, remember both the Chief and Brightman living in a research station connected to pretty much everything, yet they were paranoid, but only because they were out of the loop about things like laws regarding science and military, and then went back to being connected about current events and culture like nothing happened?
And what aboutmiss cardboardDanica herself?
Just look how she developed in relations to pictures and media!
It started by her being completely self isolated, moved to her reacting awkwardly about her picture taken, then slightly more confident, still annoyed by people only talking about her punching people, to the end where she happily took a selfie of her punching people.
Seriously though, this is the difference between character development and just changes.
In the case of Burke, an event happened and as a result his character changed. All things considered, with him it was pretty solid.
Contrary to that, in the example of Danica and the media I just gave, only the jump to more self confident was justified, the rest were just sudden changes.
Both Danica and in most cases the rest of the cast, changed to the need of the script and not to the need of the character.

Re: Star Power 7: Bad Luck for the Starstruck!
@random11, I had completely forgotten about Danica's changes. Maybe the problem is that they are too complete: she didn't just get some friends, she stopped being an introvert. You'd expect her old attitude to leave some traces, instead. More Beena wouldn't have been bad to ferry her during the transition, too.
Also, the detective evolved -- sort of.
My only problem with Burke is how he fell in love with Danica, as I think he was already daydreaming about her before he left his fellow Angels (I didn't check). Why Danica went for it, however, remains something of a mystery.Originally Posted by J.R.R. Tolkien, 1955

Re: Star Power 7: Bad Luck for the Starstruck!
The way I see it, Mookie tried the awkward person who speaks to machines, saw that it doesn't match with what he wants to do with the comic and changed it.
I tend to be more forgiving toward changed that happened in the early experimental phase of the comic, although there is no argument that it could have and should have been done in a better way.
I think he first fell for her when she was a glowing light that half destroyed his ship. Oh I remember the first time my love tried to kill me, young romance...
I also didn't see anything beyond friendship from Danica's side.
Then again, I also thought the same way about Adora's feeling toward Catra in She-Ra, and Apparently I was the only guy in the world thinking that, so I might not be the best judge of character...
