101 adventures using Abyssal Chickens

My thread is based on this video. The concept is wonderful.

My first thought is a tiefling character with planar connections has a taste for these chickens. he wants to build a restaurant in the tiefling quarter but needs a steady supply. So he hired halfling farmers (outside the city) to raise his chickens. Now there is a sizable population of abyssal chickens in Faerun and a number have gone wild.

The halflings have gone...dark. there are a number of warlocks among them. they have abandoned their temple. They attacked and ate a kobold encampment nearby. A dark temple has arisen in the fields.

nearby halfling villages are alarmed and have contacted the city who doesn't believe in 'dangerous halflings.' The city's response is to hire the PCs in investigate and solve the problems without killing any halflings...

Abyssal chickens are going to the world easier than other abyssal creatures because nobody takes seriously warnings about abyssal chickens invasions.

So the summoning system for abyssal chickens has been perfected into ritual magic or a very low level spell....

...the fog of summoning them must occur at the crossroads and the chicken must cross the road as part of the summoning....


the halflings "go dark" in proportion to the number of eggs in their diets.

...pillows and bedding stuffed with these chicken feathers (because I want to give those things feathers to make the damn wings work) have been used in various places...some who have been conceived and raised sleeping on these have in fact been teiflings (with no known demonic bloodline), or cursed, or the like....the characters must track down the source and also clear a mother of accusations of consorting with deamons or cheating on her rich husband.

...the egg yolks from these chicken have been used in various tempra paints....this has combined with the magical aura of the (forgotten ancient elven graveyard, the ley line nexus, wizard's tower, monastery) and are slowly starting to do something like animate or channel evil spirits (where the portraits become teifling or half fiend versions of themselves) which is causing people to be accused of being teiflings or shape-shifted hellspawn that the "Holy Portraits" are revealing as truth....or maybe a portrait is now talking and temping someone like a journal horocrux...

or the chickens are acting rather like the Compy's from the Jurrasic Park Novels
