    Default Mac Hardware

    File this under "Grumpy Technology"

I'm temporarily at another library most of the week. And we have Mac hardware. Mac keyboards. Mac mice. Mac processors and drives running a Windows shell.

I hate them. I hate them so much. They're made for petite elves; I feel like I am going to break them. They are poorly organized and labeled. What do I push for NumLock? ****ING "Clear".

    Hates it, I do.

I'd ask if you had control of the situation, but you may need a command.

That's about the limit of my Apple jokes, I dont know anything else on how they're laid out.

Um, why has the library bought Mac hardware just to run Windows? That's approximately three times as expensive as just buying a cheap Windows PC!

The fact I got that joke makes me sad.

And reminds me how annoying it is to ahve to use Macs occasionally.

If bought new, sure. Used? Donated? Scrounged? Maybe not.

That is an excellent question I would like to ask someone. I would like to have thumbscrews to ask that question.

Just make them answer it on one of their macs.

Alternately, some cable ties (zipties), clingfilm (saran wrap) and a large bottle of water, if you don't want to leave physical evidence.

I managed to replace the Mac mouse on my main computer. The keyboard is still laid out poorly (I keep typing * instead of -), but at least the mouse isn't a problem.

Does the second button not cause issues?

Since it lacks the features "Scroll wheel that moves if you breath" and "Button placed under your right thumb that does Back page if you apply any pressure whatsoever to your right thumb", I am surviving the confusion of a second button.
