    I just wanted to point out that the obvious person to get some measure of cooperation out of the new spider breed is Soz. He doesn't have to walk around, all forlorn and forgotten, looking for any poor sap to heal.

    The assistants are eager to help, but have no particular skill. They're just a c ouple of random gobbo's press ganged into helping you.

    Assist, untrained: Attack: (1d20-4)[-2] vs 10. Honestly, it's just so hard to find good help these days =)

    The eggs are in variable stages of hatchiness. It does look like an uncomfortable number might hatch together in a couple of days. It's not wildly obvious, but to the day you're fairly confident you'll be able to tell.

    I'm .. unsure what you mean by science/engineering, and reproducing results later.

    XP, you say. Dangerous question. See, I haven't really done XP ... like, for years. I just level everyone at the same time, when I feel it's the time for it.

    But .. I'm not sure this is the game for that approach. What's everyone's opinion? Do you want individual XP, group XP, or just .. levelling when it feels like it? =)

    Forgot to roll for the other guy:

    Assist, untrained: Attack: (1d20-4)[15] vs 10

    So .. you get a +2 to your alchemy check, and produce +[roll]1d3[/roll] doses extra.

    Also, one assistant has an 'oops!' moment, tripping over a rogue spider on the floor, dropping a fresh vial of newly destilled poison into the fire, releasing a cloud of poison gas into the caves, killing off [roll]1d3[/roll] unfortunate goblins - plus himself, of course.

    Given that the roster and activities may change day to day (as individual PC gobbys are killed and replaced by others, and the fact that we may be in different places, doing different things), my vote would be for individual XP, but I will defer to whatever method you ultimately choose.

    OK, this is the plan. Take all but three eggs and wait until theyíre about twelve hours off hatching before smashing them. The spiders should have mostly developed by this point and while probably unable to survive (much less fight) the poison glands should still have started to develop. The loser sucky assistant is not replaced, the one who rolled the 19 to help me becomes my official assistant and I spend some time going over the basics of how to avoid making things explode. He also helps me record the fact that the poison is equally lethal when thrown on fire and cut open the dead goblins to see how they died.

    The following day, I prepare touch of fatigue in all 0th lvl spell slots and cast it once each on three eggs. The hope is that fatuity gets the, slows their development and thus keeps them in thier eggs until the main squad can get back.

    I roll Craft: Alchemy (1d20+7)[16]


    With the stated expectation of high death rates among PCís individual XP makes most sense to me.

    Wait, Soz is here with me? This might change things.

    Oh, missed the XP question.

    I'm not really sure. On the one hand, I'd like group XP so one person doesn't end up way ahead of the others. On the other hand, I kind of like the idea of our goblins being able to advance individually.

    I'm fine with either way, really. Or just levelling up when it seems good

    Now that Skog has gotten to kill something, he'll be a bit easier to handle for a while.

    For some reason, I also like the idea of Skog randomly having an appreciation for good building techniques and well built buildings. I just find the juxtaposition funny
