The Champions Of Eldeñor Against The Cult Of Nerull, 20XX [IC]

The room is about what you'd expect-there are four groups of people, two small, one medium, and one large (a party, perhaps?) drinking and being merry. There's a few employees about, cleaning tables, getting plates, and serving drinks.

And, in the corner, behind the party people, is a young woman who's putting on a brave face. But you can tell she's struggling.

Olivia will approach the woman, and the group trying to overhear their conversation.

Olivia's keen ears are able to pick up virtually everything-it's honestly a bit overwhelming when she really focuses, at least at first. But she's able to hear the woman in the corner say, every time someone approaches, "No, I'm fine, I'm fine," or something to that effect. Her words don't sound the most sincere, though.

[Illven]

Olivia gives a smirk and a raised eyebrow showing that she doesn't buy it.

What's wrong?

"I'm fine-really," she says. "Go... Wait, you're not part of the party?" she asks.

[Illven]

Nope, why? Olivia asked.

She looks the other way. You can see a few tears trying to make their way out, but she holds them in and stays quiet.

Hey, come on. You can tell me. Olivia let out, putting a comforting hand on her arm.

Darion settles into the jacuzzi then looks over to Nolrik and says, "So what made you go back to school at your age? Did you say you were studying computers?"

[Gryndel]

"Well, that's a long story in full context, but the gist of it is advancement at work."

Nolrik shrugs, "Yes, computer science, networking and programming mostly. What are you studying, blacksmithing you said?"

Darion replies, "Yeah I'm learning blacksmithing from a dude named Max down at the CoLaboratory maker space. He recommended that I get a degree in Metallurgy to learn more about the metals I work with and the chemical changes happening when we work them. He says I'm a quick study but I definitely couldn't make anything like that yet," he says gesturing at the plate armor piled on the floor.

With a few slow nods, Nolrik smiles, "Interesting. Plate armor and hammer, smithy in training, and studying metallurgy. You're a rare individual, Darion."

Not knowing how to say it, he thinks it sounds like a dwarf warrior, maybe cleric. Finishing the beer, he shrugs, "So you've seen me do wizardry. All three of us are experiencing the same... whatever this is. So, Darion, what else can you do?"

"I just... Everyone's so happy, and I don't want to ruin anything," she says. "I'm just worrying for nothing. But... But it sucks."

Darion frowns in concentration a bit, then reaches for his backpack. He finds a broken pencil after rummaging for a bit. He holds both halves in one hand, then touches the symbol on his shield and concentrates for about a minute, then in a flash the pencil is made whole. He says, "So, uh, I guess I can do that. I think I can do a lot more too. I can heal injuries or make a weapon magic, but I have to touch the symbol of... Moradin, The Soul Forger. Dude, I'm not even sure how I know that. This is kinda freaking me out now."

[Illven]

Worrying over? Olivia prompts.

"My brother. He's been... Off, lately," she says. "He's just not the brother I knew growing up. He's colder, distant... Meaner."

[Illven]

How lately? Olivia asks.

"Maybe a month or so? I don't know," she says. "It'd be happening a while before I really noticed."

Olivia's ready to ask more, when the woman gets dragged back into the party. She says "Sorry, I gotta go," and joins the festivities, looking like she's trying to forget her troubles, if only for a little.

With that, Olivia heads back upstairs to the suite, getting food if she needs it. You all practice a bit, working on your new skills, possibly also studying for any upcoming tests, until the hour comes for the concert. You hitch another Uber, this one driven by a grumpy older gentleman, who drops you off at the entrance. "I'll be back at 2 AM, you said? Oy..." he says. "Call me if you need a ride sooner," he adds, and drives off.

The concert hall is only half-full at the moment, as it's just the opening acts right now.

What will you do?

Should we get close? Olivia let out.

Darion begins to feel a bit more comfortable with his magic and his armor, after another brief moment of embarrassment figuring out where to dry off and change before they leave.

When they get to the concert, he takes in the crowd and the room. When Olivia speaks, he says, "I have no idea what we should do here, this ain't my scene. We might need to try to get backstage. By my hammer, if anything funky is going on that's where it will be. ... 'By my hammer?' Where the hell did that come from?"

The current performance isn't quite what you expected-there's some growls and screams, but it's more melodious than you would've thought.

[Gryndel]

"That's a sound plan. Any idea how we do it? I could make us all invisible, but we should probably already be out of sight first."

Nolrik thinks a moment and adds, "I could also have a look backstage with a spell. But it takes 10 minutes to cast."

[Illven]

Follow my lead, I'm quite good at not drawing attention when I want.

Darion nods his head and says, "Aight, sounds good. The quicker we take care of this the quicker we can enjoy that money!"

[Gryndel]

With a chuckle the wizard also nods once, "Agreed."

Since neither of his colleagues seemed ready to move, Nolrik casts Clairvoyance in the backstage area.

You get some weird looks as you cast your spell, but no one really bothers you, assuming you find a properly out of the way spot to cast it in. The music is a little distracting, at first, but you tune it out quickly.

About six minutes into it, though, someone comes over, slurring drunkenly. "Hey! Hey, hey, you!" he shouts over to your group.

Darion attempts to block Nolrik from the mans view as eh steps up and says, "What's the problem, bro?"

[JNAProductions]

"Whass tha problem?" he says, loudly. "Tha jackass ain't respecing the music!" he practically shouts, and throws his cup of beer at Nolrik.

If nothing is done to stop the beer, Nolrik's gonna be making a DC 14 Concentration save, as he gets doused in beer and donked with a cup.

To stop the mug, roll a DC 14 check, with proficiency and Dex. (No skill, but it's catch. You know how to catch.) If you succeed, the mug is stopped, but the booze still hits Nolrik and he'll make a DC 10 Concentration save. On a success against DC 20, you manage to keep the beer from hitting Nolrik in any significant capacity, no concentration needed, and on a 25, he doesn't even get wet.
