I finally got it to work, and I can only say this was rather convoluted. The last book was 10x easier to just download.
Not sure what Gumroad has done, but this time they didn't get it quite right, says this customer.

Honestly Rich, can you find a partner that doesn't use generic email accounts like "[email protected]" and has some sort of actual customer service that can be contacted? I was able to retrieve it, but I'm not a happy customer at all.

It's been a week and still no response from Ookoodook. Wonderful customer service. Rich, is there anyone you can prod to at least get them to acknowledge the shipping error? I don't want a refund or anything, but just a "we're sorry, we'll find out how that happened" is the bare minimum of decent customer service, and I'm not even getting that. I replied to both the generic shipping manager email and sent in a request on the "contact us" page there.

Heck, i checked and didn't receive even any mail confirming that my order was received.
But my bank account records me paying ookodook as a net expenditure, so i am sure that i did order the book and that my money was paid.

how worried should I get?

If you took advantage of the cheap rate delivery to Europe then we've already been told that the books and calendars (which all had to be sent over in bulk to fulfil European orders, so the calendar delay affected us even if we didn't order one) won't arrive in the European distribution centre until sometime in January, so you shouldn't expect your book until late Jan or even early Feb at best.

Just to give some perspective for me 23rd, 27th and 30th (today) have been the only full workign days this past week and even then I took 27th off, worked shorter hours 23rd and probably may shave off some hours today too. In part because the people am working towards are doing the same.

At best they are trickling through their work. And Ookoodook didn't strike me as a large company.

My book and calendar, shipped in the US, arrived on December 23rd and it's great.

As to the maximum thickness of a perfect bound book, the machine where I work can handle up to 5"/12.7cm, and we're not a super specialist paperback book producer, either.

I'm in Italy, too and a couple of week ago I received a mail from Ookoodook. Books have been shipped and

"This shipment should arrive in Canada around January 10 and in Germany sometime later in January. Once there, the fulfillment centers will ship the orders to each of you."

So I think we will receive them for earl February.

Hopefully they have another deal soon since I went to get the book now that Christmas is passed and...yeah, those shipping charges are insane. Think I'm going to wait until the cheapest shipping option doesn't cost more than the product itself.

I think the problem there is that the cut-rate shipping only worked because of bulk rates, e.g. was only possible because of the sheer number of European orders. It's difficult to see how such an offer could happen again for just single orders.

Look for a non-Ookoodook vendor, like Amazon. They have the volume to eat some of the shipping costs. Heck, Amazon Prime is worth it where I live just for the free shipping.

Amazon don't appear to have Utterly Dwarfed yet. (They have every other book, up to GDGU, except SSDT)

Czech Republic here, also still waiting, though I haven't even received any shipping email yet. Moreover, my inquiry email to Ookoodook got ignored. It is quite funny to see how my hopes switched from hoping for the book to arrive before Christmas to hoping for the book to arrive at all

Europe here as well. Definitely Ookoodook needs to work on their communication with customers. I never got a reply to my email either, and my order status page (linked on order confirmation email) still says nothing about the order being shipped. Why offering customers an order status page, if it doesn't reflect the actual status of an order? It will make your customers email you, and I can only imagine the frustration levels for people that don't read the forums and are not informed about the delays.
