The table was also made of wood, which is used to make paper, so rock beat paper if you torture the metaphor enough.

I think that's more serendipity. Irony is the use of a word or phrase to mean something other than it's intended meaning. From Merriam Webster:

    Definition of irony
1a : the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning
b : a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by irony
c : an ironic expression or utterance
2a(1) : incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result
    (2) : an event or result marked by such incongruity
b : incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play
    — called also dramatic irony, tragic irony

3 : a pretense of ignorance and of willingness to learn from another assumed in order to make the other's false conceptions conspicuous by adroit questioning
    — called also Socratic irony
Although the second definition does seem like it could fit.

There's a more encompassing meaning involving "universal sarcasm" and iron...

That rock wasn't really a rock. It cut the table (paper), so it's a scissor.

Wow. Think about that. The dwarves consider the trees enemies and make food from seeds (basically the babies of their enemies). Dark, very dark.

I'd say it's more vindication that the living Gontor's worship wasn't misplaced, since rocks ended up saving the entire world.

I'm sure his trapped soul is taking it that way, too.

I dunno, it almost looked like the rock was just a dumb inert thing that Durkon and/or Thor used for their purposes, but they still had to do all the work.

Come to think of it, maybe that's what Gontor sees in this. If we get him back, will we see him convert to the Church of Thor?

Does Gontor have any friends, family or funds left to pay for resurrection if/when Gontor* is destroyed? The Creed of Stone itself has been eliminated unless someone resurrects at least one of them.
