    Default Mongoose Traveler 1st Edition interest check (GM needed)

    I've been in one (failed) Traveller campaign and never fully got to try it out, so I thought I might as well check for interest and hopefully find someone willing to run the system.

    I won't lie - I would like to play Traveller again, though I'm not so keen to GM it. If you find someone willing to run it, I'm game to play.

    What restrictions, if any? Putting a limit on the maximum number of terms is common, IME.

    certainly would be interested as a player
    as others have mentioned, need to know # of terms, and source books allowed as I have most of them
    and then for rolling I would suggest the dice roller area as that can not be edited for rolls

    We could decide together if/what the term limit is and any other restrictions. I have access to all the books, so I'm fine with no restrictions there. Maybe no robots?

    well each term is 4 years presuming you start at 18 maybe 16... if doing the colleges, either way , 6 terms is 24 years I would say no more than 6 terms

    I'm gonna say in the last traveler game I was in, I used LOTS of those anti-aging drugs (incruing terrible debt) to have, like, 12 terms. That was fun. But if people prefer the 6 restriction, I'm okay with that too.

    ehh the anti aging stuff is all fine and great but in character creation I do not recall those being allowed only after the fact.. i could be wrong been a bit since i looked at the books.
    there is also the question of tech level how advance is this wanted something a gm might want to set

    Since my Soc is 10, I automatically qualify for noble, and specialize as an administrator, giving me Admin 0, Advocate 0, Comms 0, Diplomat 0, Investigate 0, Persuade 0

    Next post will be my rolls for my first term.

    forgot to choose a table and roll for it. I choose the specialization table. (d6)[2]

    edit: and we get Advocate, so my Advocate is now at 1. Also, just barely made that survival roll! so, now that I've survived without mishap (and secured my advancement) I'll be resolving my event. I got an 8 there, so... A conspiracy of nobles attempts to recruit you.
    If you refuse, gain the conspiracy as an Enemy.
    If you accept, roll Deception 8+ or Persuade 8+. If you fail, roll on the mishap table as the conspiracy collapses. If you succeed, Gain one level of Deception, Persuade, Tactics (any) or Carouse.

    I'm going to accept and hope for a good roll.

    no back up under survival roll (2d6+1)[5] target is 4+ -> that ment you passed and you should have rolled an event not mishap
    roll for events if I get that far (2d6)[8]

    and you advance so that is good you get another roll on tabel for skill and then become

    Oh, we don't get mustering out rolls if its our first term. While unfortunate, that makes sense. Time to add my 0 streetwise and roll for my next career. This time I'm going for Pillar of the Community (agitator) from book 10.

    Right but I accepted and failed my roll, causing the conspiracy to fall apart. Does the 6 from THAT mishap kick me out of the career or not? Just noticed this no longer just said something to the effect of "you are kicked out" so I'll wait on further rolling for the time being

    ahh i originally thought you failed survival , then went to sleep then looked at all this am and edited, but did not realize it was the second test , I think yes it is still kicked out because of how the mishap is worded.. thats okay i technically got kicked from college but because of passing the entrace stuff gains officer status going into military which worked out.
    so I created a dice roll page that wraps all the above up, I think you still get the promotion but end up out of administration which would I think toss you available for the draft or take chances on new career..

    no you get muster out for every term even if you got kicked out, if you are staying in the same career then no roll needed until you leave that career
