    "What are those things?"

Merienda hated the idea of firing before knowing more, but these things certainly appeared responsible for the tortured dwarf. She raised a shoulder, Calendi taking it as a cue to take flight.

"Head down that hallway, keep an eye out for any others!"

Then the wild elf turned to the shadowy figures with a fierce gaze and, in one swift motion, drew her bow and fired.

As Amara warns Benedict that the enemy was only fifteen feet in front of him, something a normal human would not be able to see the creature turns to look at you as you fire your bolt and jumps out of the way, surprised at the recent turn of events. However this would be the creatures downfall as Merienda's arrow strikes true and the creature falls to the floor lifeless.

Down another path the cave takes Calendi takes flight, and as she does so one of those horrid creatures comes into view of the eagle as clear as day and it is not pleased judging from the sounds of the words coming out of its mouth.

Staying together and watch each others back are reasonable actings in an unknown place against unknown creatures with unknown powers. But Joshua isn't known for beeing reasonable.

That's a good plan, Daruk! Really! But... I... I have to go there and... he doesn't even finish his “excuse“, squeezes through his comrades and moves forward (where the fun is), with his torch held up high in one hand, in the other hand his whip, ready for action.

As Daruk finishes his prayer the long haired, potbellied creature roars something in its language, its voice sounding like brimstone. And when Joshua rushes forward the creature lifts the heavy looking miners pick up, catching his whip in midflight and smiles a devious evil smile as you retract the whip. Seeing the majority of the party crowding the corridor, Issarel stalks off to peek around the corridor the eagle flew down, seeking to flank the strange beasts the party is engaging. Unfortunately the mine provides little illumination to even Issarel's keen eyes. She casts Dancing Lights once again, causes a procession of torches to dance down the corridor.

Seeing a monstrous figure coming up the hall, Issarel gives the beast a disapproving grimace and lobs a hasty shot at the hairy scary pot belly.

Dipping your head around the corner and taking a shot while offering you a great deal of protection does not help much for your aim as your arrow goes whizzing pass the creatures head, drawing its full attention towards you as it hefts the pick onto its shoulder as if it were a weapon. As you move to protect Issarel from this unknown enemy you look around the corner and your mind is filled with rumors and tales of what vile wizards used to sometimes call forth into this world from the beyond. And it is that realization that makes your arrow miss its mark as the diabolic creature grins and prepares to charge the two of you. It is at that time you hear the scraping sound once more, of metal on stone coming from somewhere down the right most path. Something you note causes fear to appear on the creatures features for a moment, almost as if it were debating on fleeing.

@Josuha and Company As the lot of you try your best to prepare for whatever vile form of creature this is that this cult of Ryl has sent against you and the miners it steps forward and brings it's pick down with a mighty thunk like sound as it revebrates against Joshua's armor, leaving a small hole in his armor where the point of the pick connected. However the force in that swing no doubt caused a lot more damage then what has been seen on the surface.

Benedictas your eyes continue to glow a lot of faint auras begin to appear out of your line of sight, giving you a general sense of which direction they are, however it is a rather larger cluster if you had to guess. They had to wait however, as another of these vile beings was right before you and by the light of Heironeous you would not stand for it. Charging forward with your greatsword held high you bring the massive blade down cutting the creature in two. It is a devil of that you are sure, however what kind is unclear to you given your area of study being religion and not the planes. What you do know of devils however is when they are summoned to this plane their bodies always vanish. However the two before you are still very much corporeal before you.

Joshua trusting the holy knight to be able to take care of himself you rush past Amara after she fires her crossbow, taking one of the few light sources on this side of the tunnels with you as you go to stand besides Daruk. Before you stands a pale white creature, no taller then an average person. Not a single lock of hair covers this creature's body, and skin seems to have grown over where it's eyes belong. Beneath that is a large gaping maw, however given that their are no teeth and something inside seems to be vibrating rather quickly it cannot be a mouth.

@Benedict, once more left in the dark of the tunnels you can vaguely make out Amara's figure from the torchlight behind her. From what you saw last their is a large group of evil presences behind you leaving only the side passage to your right with light unless you go back to Amara and hopefully find out where the others ran off to.

Crystal as your arrow bites into the creatures flesh you remember the creatures name, a Painshrieker. Once mortal like yourself, they were turned into abberations by some devil to serve their own goals. However unlike most, these creatures did so willingly and are rarely seen on the material plane for some reason even though they were once mortals. You also note as you look at the wound dripping black blood that your arrow didn't seem to leave as deep of a wound as you would expect it to on any other mortal creature.

@All except Amara As you all stand in the path of this vile creature and the noise that it emits you note a second before it happens the sound begin to intensify before growing louder once again.
