The mods recently moved a couple of P2 threads here, so I'm going with here until they have some kind of official spot or different guidance in mind.

I was about to post in Forum Issues about whether a separate P2 subforum would be created, but it sounds like the mods have already made that call.

Not arguing either way myself, but it's been coming up frequently.

I really hope we get a P2 forum.

I don't care at all about P2 and I'll be very upset if this section gets flooded with people asking about it.

I find this particularly funny because I was here/remember when all the 3.5 players were saying this about P1

"An original post ask for 3e stuff" "a bunch of people reply with pathfinder stuff"

It still happens because posters forgot to add tags, and readers forget to read the original post, only the title of the post.

Meh. If you ask anything on the internet, you'll get some responses that don't answer your question. You're not going to stop that by adding more forums.

I reply to a help-me post with PF content under 4 scenarios:

    - The OP asks for PF specifically
    - The OP doesn't specify either way
    - The OP specifies 3.5, but says third-party is okay (Paizo got its start as a 3PP for 3.5)
    - The OP specifies 3.5, but something in PF is an exact or near-exact match for what they're looking for - it might still not be allowed, but they really have nothing to lose by asking their DM if something fits especially well.

In all cases, if they specifically say no PF (like, say, Thurbane usually does) then I leave it alone, barring the rare mistake (I'm only human).

Although since P1 was originally billed as backwards compatible with 3.5 and P2 is not, this may be less of an issue with P2. I do not think that 3.P2 will be a thing the way 3.P is.

To be fair, PF1 is awfully compatible with 3.5. Even if somebody does say "3.5" in their topic, if you're willing to offer homebrew suggestions, being willing to offer PF suggestions for adaptation is at least as good and on topic. Just so long as the posters are clear that they are offering PF solutions, so the OP can take that into consideration when trying to decide how to approach it or broach it with his DM.

    PF2 lacks that backwards compatibility with PF1 or 3.5, and certainly isn't sideways-compatible with 4e or 5e.

Well technically it's accurate though at least PF1 is substantially mechanically similar enough to 3.5 that a game may include both sources.

PF2 is fundamentally diferent and i can't really imagine a game using both PF2 and 3.5 mechanics for it to be relevant in this forum.

Most of the questions right now though are going to be "how is it different than P1" and the Pathfinder pros will be the best source of that info.

Anyway, the mods have the power to change things if they so choose, I don't particularly care either way.
