Default Power Shot (Alternative class feature for ranger, replaces favored enemy)

Power Shot replaces the ranger's favored enemy ability. This choice is made at 1st level and can't be changed later.

    Power Shot (Su)

The ranger may augment a ranged attack to impact with much greater force. As a standard action, a ranger may choose to subtract a number from all attack rolls, make a ranged weapon attack (throwing a weapon, such as a dagger, also counts), and add double that number to the damage roll of that single ranged weapon attack. This bonus damage is not multiplied on a critical hit. This number may not exceed the base attack bonus of the ranger. The penalty on attacks applies until the ranger's next turn. If the ranger has a positive wisdom modifier, they may add any amount up to their wisdom modifier to the number multiplied by this ability (it is added in combination with the amount deducted from attack rolls as a total that is in turn multiplied). If the ranger has a base attack bonus less than +3, the maximum amount of wisdom modifier that can be added cannot also exceed their base attack bonus. This ability can ignore circumstances where supernatural abilities would not function (from when it is used until the attack is finished), but the ranger must succeed on a DC 20 will save which is rolled before any attack roll for a power shot in such circumstances. This attack is supernatural from when the attack is made until it strikes, but the damage it deals mundane (doesn't bypass damage reduction, can't hit incorporeal targets without assistance from +1 enhancement bonus or other appropriate methods, affected by water and wind, etc.).

At 5th level, the ranger adds 3x the subtracted number. This amount increases to 4x at 10th level and 5x at 15th level.

At 20th level, the penalty only applies for the power shot attack.

    Good for sniping purposes.

Note (09/20/2019): Clarification for how the supernatural aspect works is added.

Note (09/21/2019): Added slight early damage scaling to smooth out damage accumulation early on.

Note (09/22/2019): Clarification on how wisdom interacts with attack roll deduction amount.

Just make it a feat IMO, and then maybe add it to the ranger Combat Style progression. TWF could certainly use another feat from Combat Style as well since TWF is so feat intensive.

Speaking of ranger, I've always found it annoying that Combat Style only comes in at level 2 since it's weird if you want your character to dual wield from the start. But they obviously didn't want people dipping ranger for the free feat, and requiring ranger 1 in every TWF build -is- a little obnoxious. Med BAB ranger would solve this problem but ruin the class. Thoughts?
The Age of Warriors (revived 2019) - Huge fanmade TOB sequel. Content needs PEACH and input.

To work with stuff like bows and especially crossbows this needs to be supernatural. I could probably go for a 4 level prestige class with 1st and 2nd level spell access to spells that help range combat, some sort of externally scaling caster level (probably tied to spellcraft ranks), the ability to take your 1st level as level 1 of the prc as long as you met the prerequisite (spellcraft 2 ranks), and have the later levels have higher spellcraft prerequisites. But I'm not sure a feat would be enough imo.

As for twf... my condolences. Jk, maybe allow a feat refund at those levels if you already have the feat (treat as a bonus feat, even let's you qualify for stuff you meet at 2nd level for example).

Edit: I'm going to need to clarify how this attack functions in the supernatural aspect it seems.

NOTE: Depending on power level for a campaign, a DM may want to prohibit, restrict, reduce effectiveness, or allow the true strike spell in combination with this ability.

NOTE: Depending on power level for a campaign, a DM may want to not use death from massive damage rules for the damage dealt by this ability.
