Default Crafting Scrolls vs Buying Scrolls

Reading the scroll scribing section and the buying magic items in XGtE I just realized for most of the spell levels itís actually cheaper to buy the scroll than to scribe it.

Anyone find this odd? I know itís not guaranteed that itís available when youíre buying. However, I am finding it hard to rationalize the fact that there is a market where it costs more to produce the spell scrolls than you can sell it for.

What are peopleís thoughts on this? Should I cut the cost of scribing scrolls?

Edit: Just read the potion of healing section and the costs to brew these potions is way cheaper than the cost to buy it. So odd.

2nd edit: Looks like if I halved the cost of the published cost to scribe the scrolls from spell levels 2+, it looks like it would fix it.

Yeah, that's... that's bad. Really bad.

The bigger question is: Why would you ever sell a scroll that cost you more to make than you can get for selling it?

So, no one ever sells those scrolls. That seems to make some sense... kind of.

If your setting has any kind of profit motive, the only scrolls available would be level 4 and 6 scrolls. 😂

RPG economics are only slightly less annoying than real world economics.
