Default Sword of Heaven [Paladin] one shot or campaign

You are paladins: members of the Sword of Heaven, a militant religious order tasked with defending the kingdoms from Witches and the Unliving. Unlike even the kings, you have the authority of life or death. You also have the powers of the Animus, both light and dark. You are the only people in the kingdoms who are allowed to carry swords.

You shall not suffer a Witch to live. You shall preserve the lives of innocents. You shall not put your own safety before the will of Ai. You shall not suffer an Unliving creature to maintain its semblance of life. You shall be honest, for truth is life. You shall honor requests for help.

Setting: The dark future of Hispania. Dangerous waters bound the kingdoms of Hispania to northwest, west, south, and east. The Godswall stands in the northeast. The rulers and the people of the kingdoms are decent and reasonable. Beyond the boundaries, however, are the Witchlands, whose barbaric folk come sometimes to trade with the peaceable people, more often to plunder and rape them. Even within the boundaries, witches and their Unliving servants infiltrate. The Swords of Heaven and their followers defend the people against such marauders.

Themes: Moral choices; fall from grace, and redemption; power, its use or abuse.

    Rules:
    The Paladin
RPG, which is tailored to this setting and themes.

    Players: 2 - 4.

    Potential starting points:

    • The port of Málaga, a wretched pit of scum and villainy where blackguards stalk the streets and terrorize the honorable merchants who trade in foreign goods. OR
    • The lushly forested borderlands at the feet of the Godswall. OR
    • The bleakly beautiful scrubland of Extremadura. OR
    • The ornate and intriguing palace at Madrid.

    Castillia
comprises many small kingdoms ruled by kings, who are chosen for their wise and peaceable natures.

Once in Castillia, there was great peace. The natural boundaries protected the land from the murder and darkness that covers the rest of the world. Even now, people try to keep the peace: the kings still are decent folks, the people usually are law-abiding, and life is given the utmost respect. The people are polytheistic, worshiping a variety of gods: the god of the sun, the god of fertility, the god of water. There is a god for everything, for everything is connected by Animus, the bit of divinity that the smallest rabbit and greatest of men have in common. Ancestors are respected, and in some families, treated as small gods.

The greatest crime in Castillia is to steal life. People hunt animals, but for food only. People harvest plants, but for food and shelter. People never take the life of another, though, for in life lies power, and Animus can be twisted and hoarded by stealing life. The act of murder gives the murderer an unholy power. The world outside Castillia fell into this dark cycle years ago– Witches murdering innocent people, then each other, to gain another drop of power; armies of Unliving – mindless animated dead creatures - created by their infernal magic; and a blasted landscape raped by unstoppable darkness. Yet brave souls still venture into the outer world to recover resources that are needed in Castillia - mostly metals that are easy to extract from the broken surface.

Castillia has held strong until now. The outside world grows ever bleaker, and every day, twisted beasts and unholy Witches attempt to take the world’s last bastion of Light for their own.

The Sword of Heaven is the weapon to strike down those who would steal life.

The setting's magic soinds interesting! I could be interested in this, but with two caveats:

One, I am entirely unfamiliar with the ruleset. Are you willing to entertain an apprentice of the system?

Two, I have enough campaigns dying or dead, by a DM's lack of investment (or unwillingness to replace an abandoning player). Are you committed to this campaign? What are the expectations from players, activity-wise, and how willing are you to enforce them?

(Also, a set of Big 16 would help!)

Setting: anachronistic Spain. The map - except no cars, trains, planes, or other wings or wheels. Use walking directions for all estimates of time and distance. Flavor from the setting and rules.
Rules: Paladin RPG, linked in preceding paragraph. Less than 30 pages but complete in its effects.
    Players: 2-4.
Alignments: You're paladins. See the rules for more detail on what that means.
    Newbies: Welcomed.

Posting "Requirements": I'd like to see daily action but some of my best players have been constrained by other obligations to not be able to do that. So - daily if you're not a great writer but a good player; somewhat less often ok if you're a great writer.

I've never played a paladin before due to their often too rigid view of things that aren't very conducive to party unity unless played correctly or altered slightly.

But in a group of Paladins, I'm willing to create a character. Is this 5e, 3.5, or is this an RPG game that's separate from Dungeons and Dragons

There's a lot of opportunities for mortal moral choice in this game. Or we could just do seek and destroy witch hunting.

Slow interest and system hesitancy. going to retry recruiting as a 5e game.
