Default Help me choose a build!

Consider two builds, both wielding a sword and shield and donning heavy armor but differing in progression, spell slots, racials, and feats:

    Half-Elf (No Variant/Drow)
Vengeance Paladin 6/Divine Soul Sorcerer 12/Hexblade Warlock 2
    Str-Dex-Con-Int-Wis-Cha
    16-10-15-8-8-17 (Resilient: Constitution)/16-8-16-8-8-17
    ASI/Feats: Elven Accuracy (lv 4), War Caster/+2 Cha (lv 4 Sorcerer), +2 Cha/War Caster (Lv 8 Sorcerer), +1 feat/Resilient: Constitution

Dips Warlock for Cha SADness and can roll three dice with advantage and crit on 19-20 1x/SR. Darkvision. No 8th or 9th level spell slots to upcast Spiritual Weapon/Spirit Guardians/Aid. Comes online late. Eldritch Blast + Agonizing Blast.

    Variant Human
Vengeance Paladin 6/Divine Soul Sorcerer 14
    Str-Dex-Con-Int-Wis-Cha
16-8-16-8-8-16 (Res: Con lv 1)/16-8-15-8-8-16 (War Caster lv 1)
    ASI/Feats: Res: Con/War Caster (lv 1), +2 Cha/War Caster, +2 Cha/War Caster, +2 Cha/War Caster, +1 feat

Str reliant and needs Gauntlets of Ogre Power/Belt of Giant Strength to max attack stat. Comes online earlier. lv 1-9 spell slots for upcasting Divine Smite (up to 4th level) and Spirit Guardians/Spiritual Weapon. No darkvision. Gets +1 feat at max level and concentration-free flight.

My question is this: Given both builds (or another if you can come up with a better one), which is more effective for tanking and damage?

    Or ..

Variant human, paladin 6/hexblade warlock 2/sorcerer 12 (this combination does get an 8th level slot by the way). You can either go with strength 15 for plate armor or strength 13 for multiclassing and either chain or medium armor (at least until you get a strength magic item)

ASI: PAM, 2x +2 cha, resilient con + 1 to be assigned

Spear + shield + dueling - good AC and damage.

Invocations: Devils sight and agonizing blast.

Cha SAD. Damage is typically higher than the non-PAM builds, you lose a 9th level slot (that is the only difference between a 15th level and 17th level caster).

If you want even more damage but less smite fuel 11 paladin/2 hexblade/7 sorcerer but you lose an ASI as well. (so 1 feat for variant human and 3 ASI).

However, the key thing is to have a build that is fun and playable throughout.

1 paladin/1 hexblade/ +5 paladin would probably give you the SAD aspect with the least delay in progression. PAM will at least give you two attacks to cover you through level 5 until you get extra attack at level 6. Follow up with +1 hexblade for the invocations at level 8 and then either go sorcerer +5 for spirit guardians or paladin +5 for improved divine smite.

Well, one of these revolves around you getting a specific combination of magic items and your DM allowing that to happen, so, probably the one that does not do that.

That said, have you considered taking on the mantle of our lord and savior, Bard?
Three things to remember about D&D:
    1. Always go right. It's right, after all.
    2. If it's not a party member, it's just XP.
    3. D&D is the only game where you really can kill first and ask questions later.
